Hey guys. I just got new wheels and when I ordered them, it said 18mm offset. WELL, when I put them on, they dont stick out anymore than the stock 20's. Any ideas on which spacers to get? How much? Thanks

Don't waste your time with generic non-hubcentric spacers, they are more trouble than they are worth. Plus I wouldn't run more than about 3mm spacer on stock studs...but I am **** and like having planty of threads on my wheel studs.

Take a straight edge and line it up with where you want the wheels to sit, then measure the distance between the wheel and straight edge and that will equal the size of spacer you need. The hop online ( Ebay seller Optionselects sells good quality spacers) and find a set of hub centric wheel spacers with built in studs. They bolt right on, are hub centric so you wont get any annoying vibrations from the spacer not being centered and you will have full length wheel studs.

To get where you want to be it's probably going to take a decent sized spacer (1"-2") so by going the above route you will save time and labor/effort of having to replace all your current wheel studs to accomodate the spacers. Best of all if you change your wheels or decide you want a different spacer you can simply unbolt them and sell them, then put your wheels back on, all in little time.

Whats the width on your wheels? Seems like a lot of people go with a -0- offset, and into the negative offsets (-18) when going with aftermarket wheels.

I had 1/2" spacers and still had rubbing. If you go up to an adapter you need 1.75" to nut trim the factory studs

No problem hope it helps.

Here are two pics of my truck with the stock 20x9 +18mm (I'm pretty sure thats the stock wheel offset). I have 1" spacers so that puts them at about 20x9 -8mm offset.
Oh and I have 35x12.5x20 Toyo M/Ts

You shouldn't have any problems. My girlfriends truck rubbed the control arms with 35x12.5 stock. I put a level and 1.75" wheel spacers. They'll be taken off as soon as wheels are in the budget

What kind of spacer? Did you use your factory studs? Did they affect ride in any way?

Hub centric spacers with built in studs. They bolt to your hub using the stock studs. As long as you use hub centric spacers you will never know that they are there.

Similar to these.

Be careful with the spacers. Go too big and you might get some freeway speed wobble!

The +18mm offset is pretty close to stock. I have that same offset and this is how much they stick out:

The previous set of wheels was a +6 offset and this is what they looked like:

2007-10.jpg

The other difference between the two sets is that my current tires are a 285 section width vs. the old set were a 325 section width. Also, the 325's were a shorter tire.

those new wheels and tires look great.

So your stock wheels were +18 offset? I thought the HD trucks had more offset than the 1500's.

I'd be careful going too big on spacers, even hub-centric ones can fail. I have a buddy who had the studs snap on one not too long ago basically from the centrifugal force of turning off a ramp on I-75 in Atlanta. Had to wait on a wrecker during rush hour traffic.
Personally, I won't use a spacer and will just buy a wheel with the proper offset/backspacing for my purposes.

Out of curiosity, why would you buy a wheel with a positive offset if you wanted the tires to stick out???

I assume you had to cut your factory wheel studs. I would like to install 1" spacers also and i have to cut almost 5/8" from factory studs. Do you have any problems after you installed them? And some people recommend to apply thread locker , witch ,i agree is logical. But i also know that you have to retorqe spacers after some time and you will not be able to do it with thread locker. What is your opinion on this?
