I have two sets of Rims and I'm getting new tires. One is a 285/60R18 and the other is the stock 245/75R16. I was thinking of going with the stock rims for the new tires. Is there any real advantage to the aftermarket rims other than looks? I'm talking as far as a daily driver goes. What are the advantages to using the stock rims vs aftermarket rims? Since I have a 2WD I'm not going to be doing much serious off-road driving. Then again, I'm also not going to be running an AutoX event. 98% of my driving is around town and I would guess around 8000 miles a year or less. Is there an advantage in say, winter traction, overall ride quality, road noise, ect? Cost to replace the tires isn't a real issue. I can get a little lower quality aftermarket tire for the same price as a mid-quality stock tire.

TIA

for you it sounds like looks would be the only reason for the aftermarket wheels.

+1

Tires will be more expensive for the 18's but if you like the looks go with them, if you don't care stockers will work just fine.
