When I had my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, I tried hard to find a cheap (2-3$) short antenna who fit on it and all single antenna I purchased on eBay or AliExpress, that claims to be compatible with Grand Caravan ended to be a totally different thread size/type on all included adapters... So when I purchased my RAM, I tried the few antennas I already have in hand to conclude that the RAM's antenna is identical to the Grand Caravan (makes sense).

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33035387703.html?spm=a2g0s.issue_5ptha.0.0.3b604c4dmlCdjO

So I decided to give it a last try where I purchased a short antenna on AliExpress with clear indication "FIT RAM 1500/2500/3500 2009-2018" but guess what... same **** again!! Please see what I mean, the width of the stud are pretty much the same, but the thread are much smaller/thinner. IMO it looks like the thread from the RAM antenna is metric and the thread from the Chinese antenna is SAE (imperial).

I definitely don't want to pay 20-25$ for a CravenSpeed antenna or something like that, so did anybody actually purchased a cheap short antenna that really works on a RAM with the correct stud thread??? If yes, please post auction/page URL :)

I grabbed a $20 antenna from the local autozone. Fit like a champ. In fact so nice my wife stole it when she got her 1500. I then took my stock one. Removed the ball at the top hacksawed off the amount I wanted and pounded the ball back on. That was total cost $0. Still works fine and took about 10min

Yes, send me your address and I will see how much it costs to send it, to you.
You can have it, for free. Just pay shipping. May as well do someone some good.
Last year or so, it's just been collecting Dust. Was on the truck for about week, at most.

9 inch Antennae, bought of Amazon

Yes, I understand how easy is it, however I am not sure I want to cut the factory antenna permanently because for the moment I am listening SiriusXM by 95% of the time, then the other 5% I listent Spotify Premium through my mobile and Apple CarPlay. But if for some reason I decided to cancel my plans and return to FM radio, I may want the best reception as possible because I live in a rural area, away from FM antennas. So I just want to keep the flexibility to return or not to factory antenna. But I definitely hate how the factory antenna is long and always stir in the wind at high speed! I can't believe that car manufacturer still use long metal antenna when they can integrate it somewhere in the rear window like in my other car (2018 Hyundai Elantra) and make it invisible while keeping very strong reception at the same time.

Then a simple $20 mod it is. Get to your local autozone. Install and try it out. Don’t like it pack up and take it back in

They also offer short aluminum antennas in several colors.

I have the short blue aluminum antenna which surprisingly closely matches my trucks color, but as several folks have mentioned, reception will suffer. I too listen to Sirius most of the time.

I have this one and it’s been pretty good so far. AM is a little worse but not terrible, don’t notice any difference in FM. I live in Cincinnati so not in a rural area. It’s been on for about 10 months through the car wash too.

I have a small black flexible antenna. $15 from Advanced Auto. It has a copper core to allow good FM/AM reception, but I listen to XM satellite 99% of the time. Looks better than the tall chrome that came from factory.

I got this at Autozone. No idea how reception is though because I only use XM or stream from my phone.

Man, there is a lot of talk about antenna's here LOL [emoji23] so, no, this is not a $2 antenna. it is about 25 bucks but the reception is far better than I ever expected!

I never wanted to use a shorty because I'd lose reception, but you're right, now with XM I rarely listen to broadcast. Gonna go get one of those...

...and I love it! AutoZone had various Metra stubbies with adapters, and I got the 7" one for $20. Drove around and it gets AM and FM fine, but again, I'm on XM 99% of the time. Looks much better, and I can't even see it from inside the cab. Seeing that stock one shaking in the wind was annoying, but I wanted to keep it intact, in case I ever decide to drop XM.

I bought a 9” antenna from Amazon and lost some range on the shorter one. Looked at the same listing and there were other different lengths and got the 13”. Got more of the range back, but still shorter than the original 9 foot whip antenna Ram installed. Not by much though maybe a few miles.

Rydonair Antenna Compatible with 2012-2019 Dodge Ram 1500 | 13 inches Flexible Rubber Antenna Replacement | Designed for Optimized FM/AM Reception

This is the one I used (Amazon), and it looks great and reception is near identical to the stock antenna.

I have tried three different short antennas from Amazon. Look and fit great but reception on all of them stunk. I'm back to the factory antenna.

There is no doubt that if you're mainly listening to broadcast, you want to use the stock antenna. Especially if you live away from urban areas. If XM raises prices too much, I'll put the stock antenna back on go back to broadcast, and be fine.
