I have heard great things about S&B CAI. I've been wanting on but they stopped building my year and have been in the "process" for awhile of creating new one.

S&B or a Vararam, would depend on if you do a lot of mudding

Vararam and S&B are in a league of their own.

Vararam will get you slightly more horsepower, but the S&B is a little less intrusive under the hood...

Being a 4x4 I'd want something water doesn't collect in it.

I have an 2004 3rd Hemi gas and both of those companies are for the 4th gen 2009-2012. S&b sells diesel Intakes. Or am I missing something?

Just checking in here since Im shopping as well...Ive always used K&N. These S&B's are cleanable just like the K&N's? More or equal gains? I would think the K&N has more flow, since it isnt in a fully sealed box exactly but Ive never seen these S&B's in person...Looking to purchase soon...

S&B offers both filter types according to their site.

The S&B is a cooler, cool air intake as it IS fully sealed and does offer an optional scoop.

What makes you say that? I know the s&b is top notch in quality but but the vararam air grabber is so popular in the 4g i was considering a vararam under glass for my 3g instead of the s&b. I was under the impression that the vararam was top quality as well. Or is the vararam under glass not as great as the air grabber?

OK..dumb newb question...why can't you? Isn't anyone making a CAI for the 3rd Gen 4.7l?

Well when I was looking into a CAI I wanted S&B but they stopped making one for 02 4.7. I emailed them about it and they said their in the planning stages of making a new one. So I waited but then found out that their planning stages has been like that for awhile.

So now I am trying figure what to get that is as good. I did see on another forum someone using a rubber union I believe to make the S&B to fit ours and questioned that.

Does anyone know how much horsepower and torque The s&b will add? Would I get better gas mileage? Anything better then 8mpg I'm a newb at this. Thanks for the responses.

Not a whole lot actually. maybe about 2 and 5 respectively.
Gas mileage will be marginal.

If you've getting 8, you have other problems. Like tire size and spark plugs that need to be replaced.
