Was replacing my tail light bulb on my 2014 Ram 1500 and I noticed the old one was 3157K . The new one at the parts store showed 3057K. What bulb should I use? I couldn`t even find a 3157K at the store. I checked the Mopar online parts catalog and it showed 3157K. What gives? Also I notice the socket was very burnt looking.

This looks like a pretty good write-up on the differences...

EDIT:
"Same thing as the Sylvania 3157LL Long Life. The Long Life bulbs use Krypton Gas and this is where the 3157K gets the K after the bulb #. Sylvania Long Life Miniature Incandescent Lamp comes with increased bulb life to various lighting applications."

I found the Sylvania 3157K online at both Amazon and Walmart.
Usually both Advance Auto and AutoZone have a pretty good selection of Sylvania bulbs.

Ok thanks. I have 3057 in there now but will seek out the 3157 bulbs. Anyone have any idea why the socket looks burnt?

Because incandescent bulbs get hot. Particularly if you spend a lot of time in traffic on the brakes.

Mine looked the same been waiting over 6 months for a callback about a socket. I actually had to bend the wire on the bulb to get it to seat correctly

I always put a dab of dielectric grease in all my sockets before I put the bulbs in.
Keeps everything from corroding and deters moisture from being a potential problem in there.

Maybe I should do that as well. I def have hot spots on the plastic. I also asked to have a socket ordered and never heard back let alone the open recall I have on my airbag.
