The actual HP gain is minimal, however it is the biggest bang for your buck mod. The torque reduction alone is worth the price.

This hands down with torque managment reduction, drivablility that you get back is really the reason to buy this and run canned tunes. Custom tunes will net even better results when you get that far into your build.

What type of gains would I expect with just an Intake K&N Blackhawk and a FlowMaster Super 10 muffler? Not too much? So is the $400.00 price tag worth it? Would I at least save on fuel? is the tuner damaging to my truck at all?

Minimal gains would be had, probably 10rwhp. FlowMasters are notoriously poor flowing mufflers and the K&N is mid-range performance. Combined with a tuner and you'd probably get 30rwhp out of the combo if it was a good tune. A tuner won't damage your truck. There have been instances of programmers freezing up during install and 'bricking' the PCM, it's very rare but can happen. I regularly load or change tunes and never had a problem.

As for the $400 being 'worth it' that's totally up to you. If you want to mod a vehicle you have to start somewhere and CAI, exhaust, and programmer are the easiest and traditionally where it begins. Unless you're willing to spend the $$ on a blower or have the limited time frame of a nitrous system, then you're stuck building a parts package that works well together. Most people wouldn't drop $15K on just an engine package, some of us would. My wife think it's worthless and a waste of money but I get a big grin when I stomp the skinny pedal and hear her scream (the wife, not the truck).
