2017 Ram 1500 5.7, 357k, NE OHIO.
Currently on Mobil 1 5W20 Extended Performance High Mileage,
Amsoil in everything else.
Magnaflow exhaust and K&N CAI.
Truck runs great, No major issues but the "Tick".
Any recommendations to change at this point?
First 100k - PUP 5W20, developed the Tick. Switched to RL 5W20 for about another 100k, seemed to calm it down then switched to M1 to current.
- Add Lubegard this change?
- Bump up to a 5W30, M1 or RL?
Thanks to everyone in advance!!

Redline 5w30 is the only oil that my hemi will ever get as long as it’s mine. RL 5w30 is the good stuff.
The only noise you can hear from my 5.7 is the slight clattering of the fuel injectors.
I put long tube headers with Remflex exhaust gaskets on about 5 yrs ago, so I have no exhaust leaks at the head , which is common.
I ran pup for the first couple 3000 mile changes , but was not impressed, when I switched to redline, after about a thousand miles , the redline 5w30 started to work and I’ve been extremely happy with it.

If redline 5w20 quieted it, just wait til she is on 5w30 redline pure hemi honey. There simply are no other oils proven at this one thing hemi tick. If you just changed your oil, for sure try lubegard biotech, it is poor mans redline and if it works problem solved, if not nuke it with hemi honey.

Another vote for RL HP 5W30.

However, in my instance, I have moved from RL HP 5W30 to High Performance Lubricants Super Car 0W30 (aka HPL SC 0W30), and use the Royal Purple 20-820 oil filter.

For whatever reason my 23 HEMI does not like the RL HP 5W30 whatsoever, and the same thing happened with my friends 23 HEMI as well.

After switching to the HPL SC 0W30 my engine is so smooth and quiet, I hear the injectors pulsing. I also take my OCI to 10,000+kms now and the oil lab reports show excellent results.

When my stock runs out of those filters, I start on my stock of FRAM XG2 oil filters.
Reason being is that the RP 20-820 oil filter in Ontario Canada (IF one can find it) is well north of $50 before tax.
Heck... I've seen some online retailers selling them for north of $50USD, too.

Either way, one cannot go wrong with either premium oil for HEMI tick quieting, and or preventative predictive maintenance measures.

Just ensure that you're using a top tier synthetic media oil filter at every OCI.
