width without lift

I am thinking I might prefer some wider tires/wheels. I have 20x9 on my 4x4 sport crew cab and been thinking about going a little wider...I really don't want to put a lift on it, or level it for that matter. I don't want a taller tire either or a mud or all terrain tire, just wider lol...maybe. I may even consider going down in wheel size if needed. I'm not really into lifted trucks or low riders just a wider stance if possible.

so what can I do?
