Thanks for the replies guys. Apparently ANY film over the entire windshield isn't legal here. I really wanted to go translucent there. So for the rest of the truck in ceramic including the windshield strip, I got a quote of $265. Sound reasonable?

Get your fronts done in the darkness you want(20% will match the privacy glass, which meters at 19% on mine), then your rears done in the lightest shade so they don't get darker, then double your front window darkness and do the whole windshield.

3m crystalline has all of these shades available, and that's what I plan to do whenever I finally get the money. 20% fronts, 70% or 90% rears for heat rejection, 40% whole windshield with 20% as1 line strip. I currently have bubbling, charred **** that idefk what it is. It meters at 26% and I want darker. I also have a strip that's double the as1 line and hate it. Almost want to go no strip, but if the strip's there and darker than the rest of the windshield, it just might fool the cops.

Imho, I think 20 all round and 40 full windshield is the best darkness combo for privacy, heat, and safe night driving/visibility. And since I've seen 35% and 15%, I'd say those two (or, rather, 15% and 30%) would be the limit for visibility, but provide the best stats otherwise.

I've read many times that 50% is hardly noticeable on the windshield and 70% is all but invisible. With the crystalline, at least, you can go for either of those if you're worried about coppers, or you can an split the difference with their 60%.

Good luck. And anything shy of $500 for removal of the old stuff, 4 doors, back window, and whole windshield is a damn good deal.
