Hey I live in VA and have a 2017 1500. I can’t figure out what tint percentage my rear windows are so I can match the front. Does anyone know? Thanks.

I thought the rear on my 2017 were 20%, so when I did my fronts I added a layer of 20% and then a layer of 5% on that and then did a layer of 5% on the rears and it's definitely not matching, I think the rear stock is maybe 35 I'm not sure? But they do look amazing

20% on the fronts match my rears pretty good ... I wouldn't want anything darker on the fronts ... Night driving out in the country is just pitch black36da9c50b9966d251f4299ec36222426.jpg

I was thinking it might be close to 20% but it doesn’t seem that dark compared to my other truck with it. I’ll probably just take it somewhere and let them figure it out

I forgot what it was exactly I went to a place and had the guy put 15-20% ceramic on the front and a very light tint in the rear so everything matches. Go to somebody who’s been in the business awhile I bet they would tell you what it is. If I had to guess I’d lean toward 20%

When I had mine done they told me my rear was 20% got the fronts the same and the rear are still just very slightly darker. Not enough to bug me it's definitely super close

On my 2018 2500, the oem rear passenger windows say “min 20% transmission” right on them, down in the corner by the Mopar symbol.

I am in VA also, I put 35% on my front doors (technically illegal IAW the ********* wealth of Virginia) https://www.tinting-laws.com/virginia/, and the 6" stripe across the windshield. Looking to put 20% on the back windows though???????

After looking up the law on this website, the law doesn't say anything but pick-ups, just cars, SUV's and vans. If we fall under the SUV's and vans, it still is SUPPOSED to be 50% up front but any darkness in the rear!!

I swore mine was 35% on the rears. I remember the tint guy measured it with a meter and made the fronts match.

I think that is right too. My tint guy did the same thing. I have since had my tint re-done 4 times in one year though so I don't remember 100%

ALMOST every car I have owned has had 20% factory tint. I once had a Mazda SUV that was 35% rear...which was weird. This is my third Ram(Dodge) and they have all had 20% on the crew cab.

Oh and 35% is the legal limit for front windows here...I know some people put 20 on the front, add a 5 to the rear so the rear look darker and it gives the impression they are legal b/c the fronts look lighter. Most cops only look to see if the front look lighter, then they assume it is legal.

From my tint guy the rear on Ram is 20%, but then again not all Rams are the same. :)

Va just changed all their tint laws but that doesn’t bother me. I’ll take it somewhere to find out more than likely. Thanks everyone.

Just remember the rear windows are 'smoked tinted' and provide absolutely NO UV protection.

If you live in the west - UV protection is a must. Heck I guess anywhere. But when it's 120 degrees outside - it's nice to not have that heat transfer through glass.

Really wanting to do my front window too. When I had 20% put on all around - the guy said he could do my front at 80% - and I would no longer have to use a sun visor when I park it. For an extra $100.. I wish I had done it. I still may do it.

Also, I feel, at least out here in Arizona, cops understand you want dark tint to keep things cool. If you're not driving around like a bat out of hell everywhere, spinning tires and switching lanes very 10 feet... I don't see you having any issues.

I've had my dark tint for years on my trucks and never been pulled over.

Funny I was just noticing...my rear tints are stock, I had my fronts tinted to match (Im guessing 20%?) but you know what? The sliding pane of the rear window is NOT tinted at all.

So I wanted to know what %-age to use, and it looks like the answer is 20%. I may order my own pre-cut piece to try it myself, or Ill go find out how much my tint guy wants for it....the fronts only were 75 bux, I cant see the rear sliding panel being very expensive.

Yeah I'm gonna look into doing my front sometime.
