yrs ago I did my tractor windows, they are quite high so sun is always in your face,
I don't know what % it was , , great during the day, but when night came ,you where screwed, so I cut it back to just about eye level. I don't think there was any factor tint, it was a'85 tractor. I have done some south facing house, shop windows in the past. New windows I order tinted window for the house, not very dark, but really helps for heat in the summer.

I added 20% to both front side windows to match the back on my truck, any darker than that and I have problems seeing out at night.
I bought a 24 Nissan for my wife and the dealer tinted all windows to 20%. They said that's the only percentage they use.
35% is legal in Indiana, but the law doesn't bother you unless it's super dark.

That's generally the case where I live. No one gets pulled over for dark tint most of the time. The exception to that is when they do their seat belt emphasis patrol week. I had a used '97 2-door Tahoe that came with 5% limo tint on all windows. It was great during the hot summer days but I had to roll down the windows at night when I wanted to use my mirrors to back up. Anyway, a county deputy pulled me over. He couldn't see if I had my seat belo on or not LOL. I had my seat belt on of course but he couldn't tell with the dark tint. $125 ticket was all it took for me to keep the tint level within 5% of the legal limit, which I believe was recently changed to 25%.

nice of them to do that. some dealers refuse to tint windows. I agree tho, it makes a big difference with that sun beating on you
To be completely correct, Lexus did it in their trim and accessories shop. RAM sent me to an independent shop they have used and picked up the bill for it.

even here in south kentucky the cops have window tint....20% on the front sides. 20% is the legal limit.

i've had darker tint on rear windows and it really makes it hard to see at night backing up.
Monticello? I live up in Louisville in Jefferson county. My sisters first husband was a Fletcher from Monticello. They owned one of the pharmacies in town and met at Georgetown College in Scott county. I grew up in Loretto, Marion county, home of Makers Mark. Small world!

Hi, I apologize if this has been discussed already but I've been off forum for a while since I gave my 2010 to my Granddaughter who loved it. I thought I could live without a truck. Surprise.... I decided I couldn't and found a nice 2020 Crew cab and bought it. It has the Deep Dark Tint option and I'm curious if anyone knows this??? Is this supposed to only apply to the rear door and rear windows? The reason I ask is the Front door Windows are tinted so dark and match the back doors that I can't see the side mirrors at night its so dark. If So, (meaning only the back windows should be that dark) I think the previous owner had the front door windows tinted as dark as the back! If this is correct I can have the tint removed from the front 2 doors and re tint to something I can see thru. I hope this is the case because it is quite distressing driving this at night.

Thanks to all in advance.

Glad to back in a Ram. Loving it.

The front windows wouldn't have been tinted that dark from the factory, there shouldn't be any reason why you can't peel the tint off the front windows.

Morning. The person I use to tint my windows charged me $25.00 to remove the old tint. I asked if he wanted me to pull it off, and said he would charge me an extra $50 if I did. So I let him do it. He used a steam machine to remove the old tint and adhesive in one pass.

Talk to the shop you will have the windows retinted at and ask them how much more it will cost to have them do it.

Look at a good ceramic tint to help keep the heat out. I also have my windshield done with the ceramic tint, that is almost clear. Blocks the heat great.

Hi All and thanks for the post

Update

So i had a tint guy come out to remove the tint on the front 2 doors and the rear glass. When he started to remove the drivers door, he called me out to show me that there was not 1 but 2 layers of tint. The first layer was a reasonably light tint and then they put a Limo tint over it. He said no quality tint person would do this but he said i see it some times any way. He said the combined basically meant it was about 1% light then which is Extremely Dark especially as it was as he put it "a metal based tint.". He replaced it with A Ceramic that looks very close on the outside to what is was so it matches the rear doors (we left what was there) very close and it's really easy to see out now. The attached picture is the after photo. I'm very happy with the results.

Appreciate the reply's and post.
