Worse mileage towing with 6.4 2500, than 5.7 1500?

I just went from a 2016 1500 with the 3.92 to a 2015 2500 6.4 with 3.73. I tow close to 10K in camping season and averaged 8-9mpg on the 1500. I havent towed yet with the 2500 but I was expecting/hoping to be better with the 2500, like 10-11mpg. So far to and from work (alot of hills and stop lights) 1500 was 15.7mpg and the 2500 14mpg.

If you are going to do much towing, you should get a diesel, their power and fuel mileage is unmatched compared to gassers when towing a lot of weight.

I completely understand 70+. I drive across Kansas and eastern Colorado every summer. Knowing that the Rockies are waiting ahead, depending on the speed limit in that spot, and depending on what I'm towing, I'll push 75-80! At least with my old CTD. My new 6.4 will likely put up for of a fuss!
You do know almost all trailer tires are only speed rated for 65 mph.

Not true. Many ST tires are rated for speeds faster than 65 MPH. I would never promote pulling faster than 65-70 MPH ( I would never) as you still have to stop that load, but Carlisle Trail HD Radials are rated "M" at 81 MPH and Goodyear Endurance are rated "N" at 87 mph. Speed equates to heat which equates to lower service life. YMMV.

Drafting on the race track is cool, on the interstate it's both illegal and stupid..
