well i hit a horse in my 2011 express. anyway i took my truck to the body shop and they fixed everything.. but.. they replaced the body parts with cheap ****.. the hood feels like fiberglass.. my question is, does anyone know if a body shop is supposed to replace with oem replacement parts? just really bummed that my brand new truck with less than 10k is rolling around with cheap crap. not to mention i have to take it back to get over spray buffed out, and the grill was not replaced so the paint is diff color bumper looks like it sags and the list goes on!:jawdrop:

they are only to replace what's on it, not sure if they are allowed to use whatever they want though

Sounds like something that came out of Billy Bob's Backyard Bodyshop.

Talk to your insurance company, ask them what they recommend.

Where I live it goes like this.
Registered in North Dakota insurance company will replace with parts at their discretion so usually aftermarket and used parts.
Registered in Minnesota the person insured can insist on OEM parts only if they prefer.

Here in Florida, the law is written like this....

An insurer may not require the use of replacement parts in the repair of a motor vehicle which are not at least equivalent in kind and quality to the damaged parts prior to the loss in terms of fit, appearance, and performance.

They can replace it with whatever quality parts they want unless you request a certain quality. Sounds like you let insurance take it to a crappy shop

hood should be made from aluminum. Dodge changed from steel from the 3rd gens. Trying to loose weight for the 20 mpg number they boast about. Also I noticed the body panels are thinner. I compared it to my brother in laws 2003 Ram to mine and you can tell.

thanks for all the feedback! i just got to work and found the work order for all parts replaced. gonna call the dealer and run these oem numbers. i know my oem hood was metal or alum, it rusted days after the wreck.. the sad thing is this is a well known body shop prob the best in the area, ive gotten work done there in the past, and always turned out great. just hope they do whats right.

here in NY,most insurance companies will use aftermarket parts unless you request OEM.Once you request OEM,you have to pay the difference between the aftermarket and the OEM parts after your deductible is paid..

Let me tell you what, What ever vehicle I have repaired because of someone else's fault...I demand new OE parts. That is what i did earlier this year when my brother hit me. they wanted to put an aftermarket rear bumper on my 04 and I told them no. well after all said and done I got my OE bumper.

what they did was give me a check for the repair, when the bodyshop worked on it they added a few other things to the repair that it needed and bumped the price up on them to cover the bumper(after I ended up buying it myself).

That new of a truck should have had NEW OE parts on it to begin with...It is still under Factory Corrosion Warranty....
