Looks like the GMC won. :D

Personally, I wouldn't want to drive it after that. I'm weird though and sell cars even after more minor accidents. Never "feels" right to me afterwards.

Everyone is different though. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Wow, that stinks. You must be OK since you are posting here.

I am guessing that with your truck being an '11 the insurance company is going to fix it so you might as well start there. Who knows, you might even squeeze in a few mods on the rebuild :naughty:

It looks like your front bumper (metal part) is pretty intact. That makes me think the damage is primarily "superficial," and they will probably just repair it. Too bad you didn't have a level kit installed. If you had gone bumper to bumper with the GM you might be replacing a lot less lol.

The engine was running fine after the accident and the damage didn't push back enough to even touch it. I think the frame is fine. Airbags didn't go off.

I have to agree with Beefy, I am the type that once in an accident like that, the truck would never be the same again. Plus what would concern me, is that much damage and no airbag deployment?

I think she's gone. Not 100% sure, but looks like total front end damage, radiator, alot of money to fix that kind of stuff vs what the truck might be worth.

Sorry about the accident.

I love comments like "that's a lot of damage, can't believe the airbags didn't go off!"

Airbags are set to "go off" or more properly, inflate (or deploy), based on measured deceleration.

Crumpled body panels keep the deceleration low; and in this case, if the deceleration is under the threshold, won't inflate the bags. And that's assuming that the Ram didn't cause the truck he hit to move forward, which would also reduce the deceleration.

One cannot simply look at the damage and be able to ascertain if the airbag "shoulda went off." Damage /= airbag deployment. Impact speed, distance, time are needed...which, shockingly, are used to calculate...you guessed it; deceleration!

Newton frowns at "shoulda went off" antics. Always has, and always will.

The window isn't even broke, if your frame is straight that is a fixable truck for sure. It looks worst then it is, I'd drive that any day when it's fixed. If you would have had my bumper you would have thought a mosquito hit you. General rule is 80% value left in the truck fix it, it looks like 6 to 8 grand damage or maybe 50% value of the truck.

Ya everyone was fine, about 4 cars ahead of me someone cut traffic off big time and all 4 of us rear ended each other. The person who cut everyone off drove away. I thought for sure it was a write off right away, but now I think it may be fixable. I don't care if its fixed, it'll still be the same to me if its fixed properly.

The majority of people I've talked to said they think its fixable. I certainly hope it is. I just bought it a month ago, and I won't find one like it quick. Knowing it was in an accident and fixed wouldn't bother me if I know its done well, which I know a shop that does perfect work.

Yeah it's fixable. Depending on the shop it's probably around $10,000 in damage

I would say they'll fix it. It looks like it's pretty much bolt on stuff.

It might be $10,000 in damage. But who knows what they'll offer for a write off. They'll probably offer under $20k
