I'm also looking to refresh my 2016 2500 Big horn, night package, ram box,41,000 miles to a 2024 of the same. I've been going on Autotrader.com, Putting in 2024, 2500, Black, trim Big horn and Larmie, gas, then changing the sorting to lowest price first. Search... Tons of trucks $12k to $17k off with some Larime's up to $23k off. Most offering delivery (Michigan) and online paperwork. If you hit the mechanical tab on their add lots show gearing. I'm looking for the 8 speed also, but I have the 4:10 gears right now and thinking maybe 3:73' might be ok with the 8 speed?.

go into the dealer prepared with cash or financing already available
From what I heard, you will get a better deal if you use dealer financing instead of cash. The dealer makes money off the financing, so they should offer a lower price for the vehicle. Just pay off the loan as early as you can.

When asked, I never tell the salesman I plan to pay cash, or have outside financing arranged. (I have never financed a vehicle in my life but no reason to tell them that.) I ALWAYS tell the salesman I am open to discussing financing after we land on a vehicle and agree on a price. I am not agreeing to X dollars a month, what I care about is the car price. This keeps them salivating over making big bucks off you in the Finance Office and motivated to put a deal together so they can get you in the squeeze box.

I've been looking to upgrade my '16 Ram 2500 Tradesman (6.4L hemi, 4.10s, immaculate, 56k miles) for the last 6-8 months, as I'd like to step up to the 8 speed transmission, and a few other options. Of course, finding a gasser with 4.10s is needle in a haystack stuff. But dealers seem to change their pricing every few weeks. I've found a few that had options I could live with at decent prices, but always several hours away, & sold before I could get there. I doubt they will give their best price via email. But I'm seeing dealers with inventory that have been on their lots for a year or more, and they're still asking MSRP... and the MSRP has been changed once or twice as well. While I'm sure a "better" deal could be worked in-person, I'm not burning a tank of gas (or more) on the CHANCE that I can get a good deal... nor do I have the patience to "play the game" of spending 6-9 HOURS at the dealership to get a decent deal. I saw several dealers advertising Black Friday pricing, only to have everything back at full MSRP and no incentives. The last dealership I went to, I was unable to test drive the truck I was interested in because the battery was completely dead. Is anyone else seeing this? At this rate, I may just go buy a GMC & save $20k... sheesh. When I bought my current Ram (I was coming out of a Super Duty), it was the easiest, best new truck buying experience I've ever had. Is anyone have a decent experience without getting raked over the coals?
Not sure where in NY you are but my last dealing with Tony Domiano (locations in Scranton PA plus associated dealerships in NY) was all email and went well.

I'm spoiled. I get something like Invoice + fees on Fords (eligible for Z plan) and Invoice +4%+fees on Rams (supplier discount). So I get to skip the negotiating - except on accessories.

That said, it's always best to haggle for a price first, THEN discuss payment terms, even if you've got financing or cash already lined up.

I bought a 2024 6.4L brand new late this last summer. I spent about 5 hours total in the dealership and got them to take $20k off their advertised price. What helped my situation the most was no one out here wants single cab, long beds. The dealer showed me their invoice during negotiation, however much you trust that sheet is legitimate, but the date on it was January 2024 so she had been sitting there for a long time and I imagine they just wanted it off their lot. Especially now with more 2025 stock coming in, I would bet it'll get easier to work dealers down on a 2024 model.

Eventually their special interest-deferred payments will expire, and it costs them a lot of money to hold old inventory. That's where you can sneak in and be the person that lets them cut their losses.

I have the 8-spd with 3.73. Seems great to me, but I try to stay at or below 65mph if I have much more than 5k lbs in trailer+cargo weight. I lock out 8th, it's comfortable in 7th a little over 2k RPM, but will go down to 6th in a heavy wind or uphill grade

Save $20k with a GMC? I don't think so.....GMC is super proud of their trucks.....very expensive, and almost never any discounts on the heavy duty ones.
I've seen GMC's with $5-7k off MSRP for 2025 models... my supplier discount could nearly double that. The Ram dealers I've dealt with seem extremely proud of their 3/4 tons... which have been rotting on their lots for over a year.

I hear ya... I know I might be making too much of a deal over 4.10s... but I want 'em regardless... & if I can't get what I want, there's no point in switching. Stopped in to the local dealership before x-mas... said you could still order '24 diesels, but not gassers... & he'd let me know when ordering opened up on the '25s. I told him the '25s were a tough sell, as all they've done is change headlights/taillights... At this point, I'd only swap if I could get what I wanted, with a minimum $15k off MSRP.

I'm not sure where you are located, but try to find a dealer in your area that focuses on internet sales. I bought both my Ram and Wrangler from the same small town dealer about 100 miles away for incredible prices, and I'm not one who would be considered particularly tech savvy. That particular dealer does over half of their sales via internet ads.

None of the typical "let me go check with my manager" BS, they post the price and you decide whether or not it is acceptable to you. If you find a vehicle that interests you, call them to confirm it is still available and then go to the dealership ready to buy after you've had a good look over the actual vehicle.
I'm in north Georgia. My current Ram, I bought at Ram of the West in Lancaster, CA... it was the BEST purchasing experience I've ever had... no games at all. Negotiations were quick (< 5 min.) and I was through F&I in less than 20 minutes. I spent most of my time waiting for the truck to get detailed. $11k of MSRP... a great deal in 2016.

Several place like Granger Motors have already started taking orders for the 2025 diesel trucks...

A diesel does not make sense for me... don't want the weight, cost, increased maintenance, or reduced payload. Most of my drives are short... would be in re-gen continuously...
