You don't have to and I don't plan to. It's not the lift that would need a brake upgrade, it would be the larger tires. They're a lot heavier than stock so slowing them down is harder on the brakes. They might just wear out a bit quicker. When that time comes I'll look into upgrading to larger brakes. The stocks seem to work great for me now though!do you have to or plan on upgrading the brakes with the lift?
Awesome truck xrsman! My local shop is still trying to steer me to suspension lift....ugh.. anyway:
1. What level kit are you runnin?
2. How does the gap from the hitch to bumper look in person? That was one of the things they were pointing out to me to sway me from the BL.
Love this thread and this truck - We have nearly the same exact truck, although mine is not a 4x4... I thinking about doing a 3' body lift as well, with a 2' level, but I'm having difficulty finding a leveling kit for a 2wd truck, unfortunately.
I assume you did your exhaust work after the lift - I noticed the tips were relatively close to the rear bumper. Can you enlighten me?
Lastly, if you have any advice for the leveling kit on a 2wd truck, I'd really appreciate it... I know it's a shot in the dark.
Thanks man, again, I really dig your setup!
I'm not sure what you mean by the tips look close to the bumper. The tips are the same height as they were stock. I do have 5" tips now so they fill out the cut outs much better.

Okay sounds good man!I think I may just stick to a body lift cuz your truck is kick ass with it. Then I don't have to mod my drive train...lol
I forgot about this place outside of town that is a weld shop (they welded up my sled trailer some years back). They also are a fab/auto repair place now too. They said they do body lifts so I'm gonna swing by Monday after work and see what they say about getting the tow hooks back in and maybe an idea of gap at hitch. If they have a good idea I'll be sure to let you know.
I agree that the hitch gap doesn't really look bad and your led light bar in front makes up for the loss of tow hooks.
I'll get back to ya...good day, eh
