do you have to or plan on upgrading the brakes with the lift?

You don't have to and I don't plan to. It's not the lift that would need a brake upgrade, it would be the larger tires. They're a lot heavier than stock so slowing them down is harder on the brakes. They might just wear out a bit quicker. When that time comes I'll look into upgrading to larger brakes. The stocks seem to work great for me now though!

Awesome truck xrsman! My local shop is still trying to steer me to suspension lift....ugh.. anyway:

1. What level kit are you runnin?

2. How does the gap from the hitch to bumper look in person? That was one of the things they were pointing out to me to sway me from the BL.

1. I believe it's a ready lift or rancho lift. I don't remember what the shop said was put on though. It's a 2" front lift with 1.5 " rear lift.

2. It doesn't look bad . The hitch just looks a little lower off the truck. Here are a couple pics:

Although I'm very happy with my lift if I could do it over again I'd probably put a zone suspension lift on for a few reasons.

1. Added cost of gap guards with Body Lift: $100

2. Exhaust tips adjustment from Body Lift: $200

3. Performance: high quality gas shocks with zone lift

4. Suspention lift look

However if I'd gone with a suspension lift I wouldn't have been able to use my airlift 1000 airbags because of the larger zone coils. That would have hurt for towing.

When it was all said and done I probably saved $800 over doing a Suspention lift.

Great job on the build! I need you to come down south and build my truck up like this. But, you'll have to bring the finances too. :D

Love this thread and this truck - We have nearly the same exact truck, although mine is not a 4x4... I thinking about doing a 3' body lift as well, with a 2' level, but I'm having difficulty finding a leveling kit for a 2wd truck, unfortunately.

I assume you did your exhaust work after the lift - I noticed the tips were relatively close to the rear bumper. Can you enlighten me?

Lastly, if you have any advice for the leveling kit on a 2wd truck, I'd really appreciate it... I know it's a shot in the dark.

Thanks man, again, I really dig your setup!

Thanks man! Check out maxtrac, I know some guys with 2wd trucks on here are running their products. Also Bilstein shocks, idk if they work on 2wd but lots of 4wd guys are putting them on to level their trucks.

I put the exhaust on the day after I bought the truck lol. I did have to get some modifications done to it to account for the body lift though. The shop put a new bent pipe in so that the tips would be raised. They looked horrible after the body lift because they were 3" too low.

I'm not sure what you mean by the tips look close to the bumper. The tips are the same height as they were stock. I do have 5" tips now so they fill out the cut outs much better.

I saw a picture of your truck on this forum, after the lift was done, with the exhaust back to it's normal height ('closer' to the bumper than after the lift).

Thanks for the quick response - I appreciate the help.

I think I may just stick to a body lift cuz your truck is kick ass with it. Then I don't have to mod my drive train...lol
I forgot about this place outside of town that is a weld shop (they welded up my sled trailer some years back). They also are a fab/auto repair place now too. They said they do body lifts so I'm gonna swing by Monday after work and see what they say about getting the tow hooks back in and maybe an idea of gap at hitch. If they have a good idea I'll be sure to let you know.

I agree that the hitch gap doesn't really look bad and your led light bar in front makes up for the loss of tow hooks.

I'll get back to ya...good day, eh

Truck looks sweet man, and Arctic Cat was my sled of choice. The fab shop did give me one kinda cool idea for the tow hook opening should they not figure something out. They have a kick ass plasma cutter and suggested having whatever design or lettering plasma cut and then installed behind opening. They say that they can cut any design I give them. That could be pretty creative. Otherwise, they would look into trying to re-install tow hooks after bumper is moved.
