So I believe I'm getting a set of headers soon (thanks to peppy) and next I'll be looking at a Y pipe. Is the Jegs one the only way to go? Or are there others? $180 seems a bit spendy but it means I don't have to buy a high flow cat, which is a plus. So it will pay for half of itself there.. Yes I know there was just a thread on this lol but I didn't see anything mentioned besides the Jegs

Flow master makes one I think, but from what I understand, the jegs pipe is a deal. Other than getting the pipe from a 00+ I think jegs is the way to go.

Sweet. Just checking. Got a 10% off think from Jegs so I'll do that some time here. Thank ya

I gotta ask, what's better about a full y pipe vs. a y pipe(the one the connects the two)? I only have a bigger y pipe, not a full exhaust y pipe.

First there's less opportunity a for leaks to form around joints, second whenever you have a coherent piece of pipe, it will always flow better than something pieces together with joints. As Peppy has said lately back pressure is a myth, but exhaust scavenging is not. The better and faster the flow, the more torque you notice. It's not night and day but it's enough that the butt dyno says, "hey, let's do that **** again."

I wouldn't think there'd be leaks if everything is welded together. But I understand the better flow and smoother transitions between pipes. My headers go down the bigger y pipe then 2.5" pipe the rest of the way. I don't see a difference between my set up and the jegs y pipe other than my factory bends. If that's the big difference in performance then that answers my question.

You don't have the ypipe we're talking about. You have the "y" that turns a single exit into dual. What we're talking about is the downpipes that merge into single

Also you have an 01, you're pretty good anyways.
And by leaks I mean welds break. I have a stock 99 exhaust from the muffler forward and I have all kinds of exhaust leaks between the muffler and collectors, mainly around the welds to the cat.
After consideration I don't think my first point is applicable as the jegs pipe has joints too, but it does flow better as it's not as bendy. So my second point stands lol.
