I bought my ram December 13th of 2011 after trading in my 2010 Cobalt SS/Turbo and I can't quite get the whole modding my vehicles out my system so I have a somewhat simple question about my exhaust. I noticed that the muffler is just clamped into place and I really just want to remove it altogether and just put straight pipe there.

What size pipe will I need to put there and what size Y pipe will I need to go to my factory duals?
I realize this may seem like a dumb thing to do but I only have turbo car experience and the removed backpressure from the muffler wasn't a bad thing for the car.

Any tips/advice for when I go to do this tomorrow? I can weld myself if need be.

I just had mine done. Muffler shop removed the factory muffler, installed a Y-pipe and a section where the muffler was for $90. I had them leave the Resonators.

My wife's Grand Cherokee has had a Aero Turbine 3030XL since we bought it in 2009. The Ram is a little louder, but I think I like it better. I've gotten use to the under water muffled sound when the MDS kicks in, so I'd don't really bother me. I will say it bothers me a lot less at highway speeds than at 25 mph when I'm trying to be quiet in the subdivision.

A little trick i learned, if you leave your truck in manual shift mode in 6th gear, it will not kick down to mds. it wont kick down in tow haul mode either.
