I just nosed around the 6.4 threads at a cummins site. They are much more civil than we are. just carrying on back and forth like old friends, each allowing the other to prop their engines. We are doing a disservice to this forum, to new members and guests with the infighting. I am at the top of said list so.....lets tone it down a notch. I apologize to the many I have offended and will try to be a better representative of this forum.

As do we all.

I figured I might hit a nerve with those last comments which was my intention. I didn't want it to come to this. But, you brought a knife to a gunfight buddy. If you are reading this and haven't blocked me , I apologize. But, you are the source of the problem in my opinion. I'm sure others would agree with me. Anybody can feel free to look through my posts. All I do is come here to learn and help others if I can. I am fairly new to this forum (2 years). But, I have over 1000 posts here and never had a problem with anyone, except you! I can even show you threads where others bad mouth you. This is a fact. I am also on the other ram forum with a few hundred posts and the same user name and you'll see not one problem with anyone. My posts are usually informative or I'm asking for some info. You are repetitive, almost always right, and I think you strive for attention. But, this is my opinion. I told you I like your knowledge about trucks and enjoy reading your posts , even the ones where I think you're an ass cause a lot of the time you are right. Well tonight, I acted like an ass also, but you are wrong! I'll apologize again to you, and most of all to the guys on the forum. If you want to keep me blocked then so be it. If you want to continue to converse with me, then you have to change your ways with me , or just keep me blocked. I don't want another night like tonight. Maybe we can all learn something from this.

You know, I like to hear people's opinion and points of view on things even if I don't agree with them. I believe that there is no reason why people cannot discuss things with some civility. Afterall, this great country was founded by the ideas and discussions of great men believing the people's voice should be heard. Yes, there have been the occasional "ball busting" that I take with a grain of salt and I do give it back, but I have never made a post to purposely try to **** people off. Hell, I even don't mind taking the occasional insults every now and then because I understand that stuff happens when debates get heated. After all, I do that from time to time with my personal friends and we go have a beer with each other afterwards.

I believe that in order to be apart of the discussion then you must also respect others by listening to all that are apart of the discussion points of view. This is why I have never blocked anyone before..... until now.

CC Rider, what little respect I had for you is now gone. You have continuously shown you cannot have a civil conversation and resort to insults and personal attacks that are meant to harm. Sorry bro, but I am going to have to make you the first person I have ever blocked due to your insolence. Trust me, it is something that I really do not wish to do because as I said I firmly believe that all should be heard if you expect others to listen to you, but you have left me without a choice. Have a good one man, and I hope that we can talk again when you can learn be more respectful in your conversations.

If anyone wishes to block me for this or anything else I have stated then I fully understand.

No, we havent had much at all. Its unbelievable and the talk of the towns here. We are in between buffalo and syracuse, a few miles south of lake ontario. So we can get blasted by either erie or ontario. We are actually near the top of most average snowfall below syracuse. i use to go snowmobiling a lot at tug hill/old forge which is a popular area in the state when it got dry here. They get pounded all the time with over 200". they are not far from here. I dont care how much it snows. The snow is awesome and beautiful. Just wish it was 80 degrees at the same time :) If you have the right conditions , snowmobiling is the funnest sport there is. I have just about done them all. Sorry to get off topic. Back to diesel vs gas

Cc, you get much snow last week?

So, along the lines of 6.4 Dude's post earlier, I will take the heat for the one to ask the mods to have this ***** lock so we can all move on. It was fun at the beginning but has sort of spiraled into a **** show. Everyone has their opinions and strong feeling about their trucks and all but don't think it's worth all the ******', moaning and name calling. Not what this forum is about.

Mods do us all a favor and lock it it up.

I'll disagree on having it locked. Having a thread like this will hopefully keep these discussions out of threads with actual info and substance.

I blame Obama personally for all this unrest!

just sayin...

If you geared any of the apology towards me as you felt you offended me you didnt and no worries. And the same right back at ya.

as it was brought up i had a bad taste left in my mouth with the 6.4 hemi i owned and i know/hope it was fairly isolated.

I was content with my hemi up to 8-9000 pounds of towing. seemed that once i went with the 5th wheel at 13,000 pounds loaded it really dogged out... granted it was 3.73 gearing. We had originally traded an 06 cummins on the 2015 crew cab short box 6.4 hemi due to the fact that we had a baby coming shortly and wanted the extra back room. At the time we had a 36' 9000 pound bumper pull camper with no plans to trade... thanks to the wife we did trade...

I never seen mileage worth a crap out of my hemi loaded or un loaded.

my personal preference is the cummins. suits my needs on the towing side and a bunch of overkill on my daily commute to work...

A 5500lbs TT mainly. So, I suspect I am not going to have much trouble :roflsquared:

From time to time our skid steer, a dump trailer, pretty much whatever will hitch to it.

My reasons for a gasser over a diesel were up front cost and total cost of ownership over the lifetime. What I mean by that is that this truck will likely get traded in about 5 years or so and since I only put on 20000km a year, I would be losing money hand over fist for a diesel that I would never truly work or need and my BIL is the diesel tech at a dealership, and when he talks, I listen. Said the Cummins would be a headache for my driving style and use with the emissions issues he sees day in and day out. Diesel is often higher than gas here, sometimes quite a bit, and we have been hit with diesel rations quite often.

I have no real hills to climb, no mountains in my future with a tow, so I am happy. Saskatchewan- so flat you can watch your dog run away for 3 days.

I usually haul a john deere 4020 and 8 ft rotary cutter or a plow back and forth from my dads place and mine. About 20 miles one way. When I haul hay it's usually a little farther, I figure the tractor, trailer and cutter has me close to 18,000#. I live in south west LA so it is really flat out here. I have always towed with a gasser so I don't have the benefit of knowing how well diesel pulls. I can definately see how someone who goes from a diesel to a gas would not be happy with the performance. honestly I know the 6.4 will do just fine and I actually would love to have the diesel but I am scared of the long term reliability.

36' 5th wheel weighing 13,000 pounds loaded. tagged on a utility trailer with kayaks and random junk for that trip. will soon be tagging the bass boat behind instead...

when we travel we try to get AWAY... try to get an hour or two away at least and a few bigger trips a year...

I see your reason for swapping. That's a lot of camper. I'm thinking of starting out w something in the 26' range. It's just the wife, gizmo the malamute and me. Arkansas and Missouri have a lot to offer close as far as camping goes.

Our bumper pull did great behind the hemi, it was even 36' long as well... a fair bit lighter but i believe the wind resistance against the front cap of the 5th wheel is what killed the hemi's economy...

also be forewarned that the new rams are sitting up higher and higher in the rear, making hitching to a 5th wheel harder. with my slider hitch as low as it would go in the bed the trailer sat nose high. i actually lifted the axles of the camper 2" and it is still nose high. i will be buying another hitch to lower even more in the bed. but will be getting close to the bed rails obviously...

Avolnek, whats the pin weight on that? I got the 1 ton cause I didnt want it squatting like my old lady in the woods :) As you can see from my pic, it still squats a little. Cant remember the amount of movement after measuring. Think it was 2". My sticker shows 3773 (big horn with pretty much the works). Mine is a t.h. btw so I know it's more pin weight

Cant stand it there. To visit, it would be great. But , living there......hell no! Im sure you country boys would understand. Im in the suburbs now but i have lived in the country. I went there after 9/11. You can smell the sewers when walking down the streets. Its WAY too crowded. Noisy too.

I disagree too. I think it could be a very informative thread.

the brochure said 1700 ish and i believe after weighing in once loaded and such it was like 2200 (with fresh water tank full). I also squated exactly 2". once it squats to that it doesn't sit any lower though... the picture i have posted with the long bed attached is full of wood in front of the hitch and the fresh tank full... so literally as heavy as i will get with it as is...

i am actually considering a fuel tank tool box combo in front of the hitch though. my folks did this with theirs and added another 60 gal of diesel... totaling nearly 100 gallons on board.... allowing them to fuel up whenever they choose to fill vs filling when their truck tank is getting low.
