What is reason for choosing non synthetic?
The question is pretty loaded you will get a ton of different answers.

Already got my Royal Purple synthetic filter in the mail a couple of days ago. Just need some good synthetic oil and I'll definitely be changing my own!

Wait for the truck to tell you it needs to be changed.

Seriously.


You shouldn't have any problem going 7500 miles minimum with full syn. I had a Mercedes E500 that carried 8+ quarts of full sun just like our trucks do, and it also had one of the most intelligent oil minders on the market, and it never told me to change it before 10k.

Well, looks im due to change the oil for the 1st time since I've owned my 2011. Bought Pennzoil Platinum and a Fram filter. Now all I need, it seems, is something to drain 7 qts into.Have never been under the truck, but I guess it'd be hard to miss the drain plug. Read ^^ that I should get a funnel for the filter change? BTW, what size socket is that plug? I have a vararam, but it looks like theres plenty of room up there for a funnel too, I guess

Take it to any Firestone shop. We gladly take if off your hands lol. We dump it in our recycle oil tank.

update. so i changed my oil using mobil 1 full synthetic @ 4000 miles. the oil was blackkkk! not to mention i fully drained out all the oil & only got 4 qts used out the pan! are our ram trucks with 4.7 notorious for eating oil??? anyways, on a lighter note i recommend buying your oil from walmart wayyy cheaper than autozone & oreilly's got my mobil 1 from there

“They” recommend replacing it every couple oil changes but for me if it’s not leaking and it still looks good then when I’m done then I don’t replace it, but that’s up to you.
