Hey guys and gals.... Anyone have experience with Recon license plate light installs???

I love Recon lighting, but these are not plug-n-play! As you can tell from the pictures, ones a plug and ones a circuit board looking thingy. I'm not shy when it comes to splicing and drilling, I've done all the mods and wiring on my truck, but HOW would I do this?

Any advice... Let me know.

Not familiar with the lights but based off what you posted; are the recon LEDs suppose to just replace the bulb? If so, would that keep the socket the same or does the OEM bulb plug directly into that plug from the factory wiring? (I don't remember as I only pulled mine off when I painted my bumper).

Love the truck! Another Jersey ram too ;)

Looks like you have to either find connectors and build a harness or splice it in. I'd splice in. Looks pretty simple, positive/negative wire!

Ok took a quick google trip and I think I see the lights you bought, looks like they are the entire housing. I wonder if maybe they didn't send you the full kit? One thing to be careful of is any oxidation on that little connector and you'll probably have some issues. My suggestion would be find a matching connector, snip the ends off of the recon lights and add on the connector. That'll be the most sound option.

you plug the 194 socket back in, and plug your new recon lights into that, use dio. greese, and secure it so it does not vibrate out.

Ho-ly JESUS!!! Boy I never thought of that. Why didn't I even consider that?. Thanks so much. Just pull out the bulb itself from the socket and plug the new housing in.

I was all ready to cut and splice. Thanks again. Man, I feel stupid. Sorry RECON. Lol

Beware of this product. I bought and installed them. Wasn't sure about the exposed circuit board looking backing and flimsy wire connection onto said board but I figured for how much I spent on them they would be solid. A few months after install the solder failed and the wire fell off the circuit board looking thing and obviously the light went out. I'm just waiting for the other side to fail

Where’d u get the tow hook?

Actually bought it directly from Wicked Rails, but now I see they are listed on Amazon for the same price I paid.

Don't get one if you are anti social.... You're going to have people come up to
everywhere and ask about it. LOL

I ran these on one of my previous trucks - however, they can be found on Ebay for 60$ as opposed to what Recon sells them for..they were stupid bright. I never had any issues with them. I contemplated getting them for my new truck, but just went with some 194 bulbs instead.

Grab some pics of them at night, curious to see how they compare to the regular LED bulbs.

Hello from north NJ too !
