I've read on a couple of other threads that you do need to go with longer shocks up front when using the CST 7" spindle lift kit/package (really a 4" lift + FE level). Kit says OEM works but RF posts say they dont have enough extension, and give the front end a jarring/pogo stick effect going...
thanks, that does help. Mine's 73.5"
website says 74.5 2wd and 75 4wd. looks like lift and 35s gave you 8" overall ...probly means no 37s for me, too close
Would love to run 22s w/37s and still get in my garage. right now I have stock 20" wheels/tires, and have 9-10" clearance betw the cab and the garage.
Was looking at the cst 7" lift (2wd) and getting that the 7" kit is really a 4" lift & level. Can you run 37s with only a 4" lift? if so...
I wouldnt think so, the engine still puts out 300hp so guessing around 220 at the wheels... you need to know what gears are in it now. if they're 3.71s or 3.92s you may not need the swap for 35s if its geared low already. assuming you arent going for any real offroading; It will accelerate...
What gear ratio do you have right now? If its tall, just gear it down and you'll have similar engine/acceleration performance with the 35's as you do with the 33's. So if you have a 3.55 ring now, swap in a 4.10 or 3.92 gear ring and you'll be fine.
If you want to go cheap, just slap a breather filter on it and cap the intake tube port. $6 mr-gasket ~ they're baffled so no mess, and you never have to drain anything.
I had similar expectations and was equally underwhelmed with that. But performance wise they're worth it.
Getting them ceramic coated covers up the nastiness both outside and inside (visible areas). They'll look great even without the 360* top weld.
kind of pricey, but longtubes were definitely the best upgrade for me. Makes everything better, most noticeable hp gain of the mods i've done, finally has some acceleration/trans doesnt feel as sluggish, sounds 10x better
I went thru the same thought process, and chose the vararam because overall felt like it would provide better performance for my driving habits, which sound similar to yours. Probably talking a few hp difference on the hwy because of the ram air, nothing huge. I'm happy with it.
I'm jealous! Thats one thing that still eats me up that I couldnt get; I wanted a REAL LSD instead of OEM... I've read Eaton won't make them for the 9.25ZF rears until chrysler commits to a 3 year design freeze, which they arent ready to do.
Probly not til October, have to budget more mod money for the install
Yep, can't wait! Its the same ratio I had in my SRT QC. Thats my ultimate goal with this truck, similar performance to a stock SRT, but with the ride quality and extra cab room of the 4g.
I'm 36, and like the lower/deeper tone and quieter on the hwy. I'm running the mag24 now. There may be a borla catback in my future tho.
But I do get what the loud-crew likes about it. When I had/installed headers on my Ram SRT a couple of years ago, I started it to see how it sounded just...
Got the machined diff carrier ready for the 4.56 ring! and ensured I got an LSD carrier (OEM) machined to convert my non-lsd during the gear swap.
I also picked up a PML diff cover along the way. Can't wait to get these installed!
jealous of you 3hr longtube installers :)
Finally got into the longtube install this afternoon :D, thought I'd share some pics. Everything went smooth except getting the factory Y-p ipe to slip out of the single pipe to the m uffler. Tried everything to knock it out, even put a torch to it to...
