Hello,

I'm considering retrofitting my factory projectors with the Morimoto Mini D2S 5.0. I've never retrofitted a set of headlights before so I just want to make sure I have everything before I bake these.

1. I plan on ordering the projectors, the mounting brackets, and new rubber butyl for resealing. Is there anything else I'll need for this project?
2. Are my existing HIDs compatible with the D2S platform or do I need to buy a new set of D2S specific bulbs/ballasts to fit the Mini 5.0s?
3. Will these fit in the housing without any modification or does trimming/cutting need to be done?

Thanks!

Here is my set up using D2S 5.0's - https://www.ramforum.com/threads/ba...-upgrades-from-retroshop.178866/#post-2762085

I had mine done by Jeremy, very happy, no leaks/issues since having this done.

You will need D2s bulbs, depending on your current HID setup and age you will either need something like these - https://www.theretrofitsource.com/d2h-xb-hid-B-D2H?quantity=1

If your HID set up is 2+ years old you might be better off getting a new D2S HID set up.
I changed out my 55W's for 35W's, was not thrilled, went back to 55W's and very, very happy (I am using the D2H bulbs @ 6K BTW, this pushes it to approx. 4800-5000K with the AR coating and 55W)

I will say this, taking apart the factory lights is not easy at all. ****, my fingers still hurt thinking about it lol.

Thank you! Was there any cutting/trimming involved in fitting the Mini 5.0s?

I paid Jeremy to do all the work for me, my understanding was that it was/is a "bolt in" swap, no cutting needed.

Honestly, it was worth the price to have Jeremy do them, I have had no issues, fogging etc with them since.

The cut off and color banding is amazing with the 5.0's
