I will never own one again too. I had 2 2016 Laramie Eco Diesel. The first one had electrical troubles and was replaced under Rams "Customer assistance program".
We had a meeting at the dealership with the Owner, manager, my sales person and FCA did not show up. After which they told me I had to order a new truck and it would be QC tested at the factory. $10k in the ditch. I relented and said ok. I ordered another Eco Laramie Limited with everything except tow mirrors and sunroof. The day it came off the truck, the radio screen was only viewable on the bottom half and it did not start. I was assured it would be taken care of.
It was in over 20 times in 3 months for a no start condition. Was told they had a keyfob issue. Key Fobs, modules, programming, and finally I hollered calf rope. I was there almost every day. They told me to take pics of the keyfob error and I filled my cell phone up with pictures. I drive over 1k a week and can't have a truck that will not start. FCA said the answer is to open and close the door til it will start. To fca, if you are having a medical emergency and there is no key slot to put a key in, you are dead! The fobs are a joke.
Had a meeting with FCA and they said they were going to put me in a hemi. I did not want a hemi as the fuel mileage diff. was a lot of money in a years time. When the numbers came in, the cost to me was 11k for a 90 day old truck plus the loss of 4k for the diesel. I do not know about you, but I could not stomach it twice in 6 mo. The FCA reps attitude was it is my way or the highway! I had a friend sit in this meeting and he said this guy should be working for FCA.
I sucked it up and bought a Ford F150. I had been driving FCA products since my first Plymouth Arrow in 1976. I drive a luxury pickup. It does a lot of highway driving and almost no city. Comparing the Ford Platinum to the Ram Limited, the Ford is a lot more luxurious and has the speed compensating cruise control. Why don't you?
I am now replacing all my other FCA products. I purchased the lifetime warranties on all my products but if the factory can not fix them, what good is a warranty.
The dealer puts in a star case. I have had a ton of them. FCA tells them what to fix. The dealer has no say in the repair.
Good example:
My friend uses 2500 diesels for his business and ranch. Had a 6 speed go out and had to be towed to an out of town dealer. Truck sat 6 mos. waiting on parts and another month and a half to get it fixed. A year later he gave up and bought his ranch hand a duramax and gave the Ram to his maintenance person. 24k on the clock and FCA would not give him a loaner because it was a 2500. Now FCA, you just lost a customer who at one time had over 25 Ram trucks on their fleet. The Dallas rep did nothing to help this company so they took their checkbook and went across the street.
