What we're gonna do is when we go to start this, I'm going to start on the passenger side, then take a bolt to Lowe's and fine something that will work for the other side.

Gotcha, that's what I had though. Especially considering these bolts only get torqued down to about 15inch lbs or so...I'd have to check.

just make sure to get some good gaskets like fel pro gaskets. i find they tend to be a bit better than most if the other ones.

Thoughts on putting a qt of ATF4 in my oil for an engine flush after I replace the valve cover gaskets? I was going to run 15W40 Rotella in it after those were done but I am thinking about the darkness of the oil already and was wondering if I should do an ATF flush first.

i don't think a bit of atf would hurt anything if you leak oil and have not changed the oil yet.

I changed the oil this past summer to HM 10W30 and nothing got any worse. Got some light pan seepage as well as I believe the rear main, but nothing dripping.

Or yeah, and I threw a couple ounces of Seafoam in there too. lol

So you're thinking an ATF flush wouldn't hurt anything? How long should I run that stuff?

i have heard of people running 1 quart of ATF with every oil change and not having any issue. you could probably run it till you decide to change the oil.

Lots of my friends with older vehicles do this. Personally, I've added ATF to every other oil change and run it through for 3000-5000 miles. I've been doing that on all of my older rigs for years.

AFAIK, I've never heard of any problems related to this.
