I deliver local tommorow so I got to stay at home tonight. Figured I would finally finish up my cb antenna bracket I fab’d up.
It’s just steel plate that I cut to be slightly taller than my headache rack bar, then drilled four holes and on one part I made the area for the antenna stud. I used a chop saw, bench grinder, drill press, and a Lincoln flux welder. Not too shabby. I added felt to one side of each piece so they will grip the rack better and also not mess up the finish on the rack or bracket.
The bolts are slightly too short that I have. I set it up for a photo though. This is how it will mount. Hopefully being between the cab and rack, the SWR won’t be ridiculous. If needed I can get a shorter antenna and mount to the top bar but I really don’t want it that out there. I like how it blends in being down lower. You just see the tip sticking a little above the cab (Really all that matters)
Some more photos of the mount (If you notice, there seems to be a shiny new front bumper that arrived today [emoji2960])
I’ll get longer bolts this weekend. I’m supposed to be off Thursday-Sunday. I believe my dad has a black, 3 foot firestik antenna on his semi. If so, since his semi is red I’m sure I can convince him to trade for my red, 3 foot firestik. I run red on my semi, but I think red antenna on a blue pickup a tacky and looks like my truck is pretending to be Spider-Man or something...
