2017 1500 4x4 limited now with 8000 miles. I get 16-19 on highway. 16 driving without regard to mileage and 19 if I baby it. I check at the pump with a calculator so this is accurate for my truck. Never made much difference when new vs after break in for me.

17 Rebel, 14-15 around town, 16-17 highway at 70 mph, I gain 1 mpg if I stay at 65. I drive it pretty easy.

I was curious so I googled it, summer grade gas is only required from june 1 - sept 15 at the pump. The refiners are required to be switched over by May 1 but have until June to be 100% switched so we have to accept lousier mpg for most of the year.

Hmm up here in Northern BC I seem to be getting about 18-19 mpg once I do the math on the highway (5.7 hemi and 3.92 gears with the 8 speed) in my 2017 1500. Guess I can't complain. I do drive like a grandpa most of the time though so I have that going for me. Hoping to get up into the 22 or so mpg once summer finally arrives.

Also wondering if I should be filling up with mid grade 89 or stick with the regular 87? Does it make enough of a difference that the price is worth it?

First post ever for me so if I mess up..let me know. I bought a new 2017 1500 SXT 5.7 Hemi 4x4. So far it has 600 total miles on it. The question is, does the mileage get any better than 16-17 mpg or is this something I have to swallow? Do I have any options? Thanks

You will start getting a little better once it is broke in & you start running the summer blend fuel. Not sure when that starts up there in Canada though.

I haven't noticed a MPG difference between 87 and 89. Engine feels smoother (placebo?) on 89. This is with not towing anything. 5.7 2WD 3.21 8 speed gets anywhere from 19-22 highway (75 MPH, mostly flat). Depends on the wind!

I don’t know how anybody is getting 20 to 21 miles per gallon. I deliberately took this down the interstate one day, no wind and basically level route, babied the foot feed, kept it at 70 or below basically the speed limit, best I could get was slightly North of 19 MPG. If I look at the funky computer readout I can get 21, but at the pump does not lie. Any case, it’s a truck and I’m happy with the mileage

I’m getting about 14-16 mostly around town. I have a 20 mike round trip, backroads to work. (I live in the foothills) I think if I run some highways miles I get 19-21. I’ve got 3800 on my hemi crew, 3.92 gears. I read that guys were turning off the MDS/ECO mode to get better Milage around town. I’ve been doing this for at least a month and I have seen a 1-1.5mpg gain. The killer for me is how terrible the gas prices are here in CALIFORNIA. $3.59 for regular...and it keeps going up.

I just bought a 2018 2500 with the 6.4 and I'm only getting about 12 to 13 when I baby it.

Mine was getting a good 16/17 mpg on average with my heavy foot.
89 octane is around $2.50 g and thats all I run in it.
Hard to say now after the 35s I have not had my speedo corrected but my evac reads high 13s.

I have a 2004 and it's the same.... haven't even been close to a 2017, but if it's anything like mine.... get used to it

Thanks for all the input, guys. Guess I'll wait till I get some more miles to get a better idea of the mileage. Can hardly wait till I start towing the RV around this summer. If I can get a steady 17 then I can live with that . At $5.50 / gallon right now, I think I might have to put off my trip to Alberta this summer.
