Hey guys and gals,
First off, sorry for the millionth headlight post....
After 8 years of ownership I'm finally getting to some exterior mods. Headlights have been on my list a long time and this winter I'm hoping to complete this project. Before I start I had a few questions that weren't answered in other threads I read.

My Goal is to do a basic-mild build on a set of Quads. Not planning on doing HID's or LED bulbs.

I'm planning the following;
- Buff/Restore lens on low mileage used OE set I bought. Suggestions on Restore kit?
- Bake lens' in oven for 20 min at 250F- separate lens. Is it better to bake before restoring lens?
- Prep & Paint bezel- color matching to body. Is everyone sanding down the bezel or just painting them as is? I'm going with Brilliant Black- What about clear? Thinking 3 coats of base and maybe 2 clear coats? IDK?

- I may look to have a local company re-seal the lights once I'm complete. This step is not something I want to mess up.

Trying to do this on the cheap, my plan is to run a set of modified H9 bulbs (low beam) and a set of 9005 (fogs) for better output. 90% of my driving is in town so I don't need crazy bright lights. What is everyone upgrading to for the high beams?
- in support of this I am planning on some LED pods to be mounted behind the grill for those late night highway trips.

Appreciate any help. This will be my first attempt at any mod like this.

Andy

Adding projectors to the quads is the easiest part of your entire setup, I don't know why you would pass that up.

I would restore the lens after you are done, help clean them up after if you get glue or extra scratches. Make sure they are able to be restored first.

Do yourself a favor, add some H1 v7 moritmoto projectors in there. Really throws some lights, increases the look, and really simple if the headlights are open.

Thank you for the reply.
Yes I agree. Restoring the lens does make more sense after the build is done.

I’m not against projectors. The cost compared is really the only reason I’m shying away. In Canada I’m not sure of places to get the right equipment. The exchange and shipping seem to kill the deal on most of my mods.

Anyone from Canada have success with sourcing parts?

Do you have any pictures of oem quads that have been fitted with projectors? This sounds interesting.

Check here:

I bought Matchbox projectors for my fog lights. Haven't bought the bulbs, ballasts or harnesses yet. If I have to do it piece meal to get everything running, no worries. And Retrofit source guys are good about answering your questions.

Appreciate the info guys.
After some digging I was able to find a Canadian supplier of the moritmoto projectors.

I've always wanted projectors but the cost has kept me away. I'll have to do a cost comparison to what my original plan was. Not really sure of a parts list....

www.esskcustoms.com should be able to supply everything I need. This way i wont get killed on shipping and duty.

Dang....what projector is in the top and what is the projector in the high beam portion??

They are the same:
Tuning H1 V3 with Mini H1 Shrouds - # Proj-H1-V3-PR-MiniGG from DDM.
55W Ballasts & Ultra H1, 4500K Bulbs from DDM. I do have lots of light

It requires considerable modification and adjustments - that's why they get $1000.00 to do the complete job. Lucky me, my son is an expert at it.

Here is my old retrofit. Mini v3 (I think), square lense, d2s. Aftermarket housings. Actually for sale if interested. Would keep them but looking at retrofitting the oem projector housing starts with FX-R 3.0.

Did some digging and compared the Halogen, LED and Projector options.
I'll be going the Projector way with this build. Might need to save up a bit longer to make it happen but I think I'll be happier in the end.

The parts list I'm going with is;
Low Beam- Morimoto Mini H1 7.0- with harness, CANBUS and Bulb.
High Beam- Might go with Profile HI-Lens LED. (might do another projector here- TBD)
Marker Lens- Clear
Paint- Brilliant Black

Excited to get started. Due to me moving later this month it's probably save to say I wont start the build until early January. Will be watching a few websites for some Black Friday/Boxing Day sales to gather parts.

more to come...

I'm going to go with the Profile Hi-Lens LED. Looks like it would be easy enough to retro-fit in the high beam reflector. I have Mini D2S's I am putting in the low beam reflector. A bit more to get in there. Have to clearance a part of the reflector for rotational alignment.

My plan is to to a quad projector retro with the Profile Hi-Lens in aftermarket sport projector housings with switchback boards. Gonna be hard to shove two projectors in there but 4 LEDs looking at you will be mean.

Nice, it came recommended from the Company i plan to get the parts through. I'll have to see what funds allow. If you do go that way keep me in the loop. Would like to hear your experience with mounting it all in the housing.

Fitted up the shroud, may have taken too much off the top. Not bad for a full size shroud. Mini D2S 4.0 and Gattling Gun 1.0 shroud. Might get another set of shrouds to use. Get these fitted right and then see how it goes. These have some marks on them.5166defd592a3f02edfc060e999ba8b5.jpg57d5e73e53dd1686191a7781446db767.jpg5f77e6a45b9de93c2c14f69a9cb8200d.jpg

Custom quads I just finished.

Low Beam: Morimoto M-LED Projectors
Shrouds: Apollo 3.0

High Beam: Profile Performance HiLens High Beam LED Projectors

Profile Prism Fitted RGB Halos
Profile Prism 80mm Projector RGB Halos
Profile Prism RGB Demon Eyes
Profile Prism 3157 Switchback Bulbs
Morimoto XBT Bluetooth Controller

Plus tons of adapters, connectors, plugs, build materials, etc. Top dollar lights, nothing cheaped out on.

Everything is internally wired, no soldering or cut wires, all plugs and adapters, no "hardwiring". Only stuff outside is the bluetooth controller and the 3 sets of rgb drivers.

If you build this same set on retroshop it would be $2,025 and the site doesnt let you add the Profile Prism LED High Beams and the XBT Bluetooth Controller and a few other things so really, they are valued at around $2,500. 239889b8fcdcf10747b406afdeead9d0.jpgaac6a1aaa280cf06fd585b8a7f8fc19d.jpgabae6195e8d16728cb0a8174c5398c4c.jpg5a381458d2e53d8fb530279059413339.jpgb8a1aaaeb5edd1d3a6312b323f1f3165.jpgf16df17109e6da59b795b5c963fe9059.jpg8be025d71fc6cc3fcbfaa139b2d043ae.jpg4b2a68fc29b2fe78b693210c9fc7c1cc.jpg36e92164f4a26013824b9abfa4829d5b.jpgcb121edcabaf2af6d193b19f13f3ec67.jpgf95d570c4e061bbfbb05afedafaa7e2a.jpga65ccf6cd5287f440fe9ff97850cf865.jpg22afd52eae8d834dc4e412dce8347964.jpg

Good looking lights. thanks for posting. Happy to see the same high beam parts used.

$2500 USD is just crazy for a set of headlights. I'm hoping to build mine for less than $1000 CAD including paying for the bezels to be painted.
