No dice. When I plugged the radio in with the USB in the OTG cable. The screen came on bright for a second. Like it does when it resets after an update. Then just goes black again and backlight goes on and off. The USB stick has a light in it and it just flickers. Doesn't stay on.

Have you tried unplugging the radio completely for a minute or two to remove power?

Yep. It was out before I tried it. Was thinking maybe a USB drive that has power to it instead of relying on the port to power it.

I tried that too but only through the media hub. The only thing that worked for me was the adapter dongle. Are you using the exact same drive/firmware package? Maybe try putting a different older/newer package then the one you flashed?

I think I also plugged it in after the radio was powered...

Thanks, I just may try seeing as how my cellular card is fried on the radio. I wonder how the Canada radios get time for navigation? My NAV is unusable because the cellular card cannot keep accurate time to give NAV position.

I know the Canada radios don't have cell cards, maybe this could fix me? It's doubtful, but I may be willing to try. Especially since I've successfully recovered two bricked 8.4s...

No, unfortunately they were for 2015-2016 Chrysler 200 models only so I'm not that desperate yet. I was able to recover the radio and it at least thinks it has the right firmware flashed when going from v15.26.1 to v16.13.13...

Shouldn't be different. The TSB shows a whole list of cars/trucks it is for.

OK. I have located the 17.11.07 update files for MY15. It is from 2015 2500 Laramie Canadian VIN #'s. Does anyone know why this wouldn't work on US trucks?

Here are some of the VIN's I found.

Technically it's different hardware as the Canadian trucks lack a Sierra Wireless aircard completely. Other than that they should be identical I think...

Hi NJCummins67,

We would not recommend performing a software update created for vehicles made in another country on a U.S. vehicle as we cannot guarantee that update would be compatible.

I think Andrea has the best advice. Especially if it is factory installed (under warranty) or otherwise perfectly functional radio.

ok so this thread started on March 28, 2017. it's now July 20, almost 4 months, how long do these OTA updates usually take to roll out. 2013 ram 1500 outdoorsman, in NJ, still no hint of an update.

This is the first OTA SW update for FCA .....and there seems to be issues with it .
Hopefully they are fixing the update prior to flooding the market with issues from a known faulty SW update ?
