Uconnect 8.4 & 8.4an update - 17.11.07

1st time? ok that makes sense. I remember when cell phones 1st started get g major updates OTA, lots of bricked phones in the early days, a bricked truck is a whole nother matter. I for one hope they perfect process before my truck updates. it's runbing good right now.

Wonder if you have to have the most current update in the radio for it to get the OTA update? I have a 2013 with RA4 but it is not on the latest version. I would suspect that the OTA wont care but maybe you guys know for sure??

ok so this thread started on March 28, 2017. it's now July 20, almost 4 months, how long do these OTA updates usually take to roll out. 2013 ram 1500 outdoorsman, in NJ, still no hint of an update.

My 2014 is up to date with the exception of this current one. Apparently it makes no difference.

Software is radio year spacific .

If you have the vin from the truck the 15 radio was originally installed in , then go to the uconnect site , use that vin and download the SW update to your PC , then put it on a new 4gig thumb drive and install the software via the USB per the instructions on the uconnect site .

Oh yeah one more thing , to my knowledge you will not get the OTA SW update unless your vehicle is a 13+ RA3 / RA4 factory install .

If your vehicle came with an RA1 / RA2 or you've upgraded to an RA3/RA4 your only option for a SW update is to do it manually via your USB port in your truck .

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

Well got bored and stuck the USB in the slot and WHAALAAA!!! It worked. 17.11.07 is installed. Just waiting for the UConnect Access stuff to come down and all should be good.

The only bump I discovered is when I put the truck in reverse the cargo cam shows on the screen. I believe that has to do with the 15 radio in a 14 truck though. My reverse Cam was always in the mirror only. And in 15 it went to the radio. Maybe different wiring. I'll have to look into that.

Not backup camera but cargo cam has an app.

Yes. Canadian release 17.11.07. The part number is 98238619AJ it was 98238619AE on the back of radio.

I will be curious to see if anyone else reports the same video input swap issue once they update their 13-15 Ra4 vp4-NA version 17.x

All depends on whether or not they have the extra cameras or not.

I'm wondering if there are pins on the radio harness that could be moved. I was looking through some of the posts to add factory backup cam.

I also have the harness from the RAX that may work.

I'll post a pic in a bit of what it looks like. When I shift into reverse the cargo cam comes on and there are 2 icons top left. One shows a truck with a cam on tailgate the other with cam on roof. The image I get is cargo cam but with the icon highlighted for tailgate cam.

There's 3 video capable inputs on a RA3/RA4. It's relatively easy to release the pins from the connector and reassemble. The problem you have is getting the signal from the backup camera (or mirror input) down to the radio. I want to say someone here had made a harness to do it.

I have the wires at the radio. I had the RAX jailbreak installed previously. Just need to know where to put them.
