Yeah... You have to put the car in "service mode" where the radiator and everything swings forward for work on the front of the engine, PITA...

Did you change the timing belt? If you didn't you NEED too... (radiator flush, water pump, timing belt is all at one time job) I paid to get it done from a performance shop at the same time they did the chip.

Was the water pump wheel metal or plastic? If it was plastic, and you do have to go back and do the timing belt, I suggest you change it again and get a metal wheel water pump. The plastic ones have been known to break into pieces and travel through the engine doing damage.

Does the 1.8T engine have a Cam Follower? If so, this is something that needs to be checked every other oil change, if it goes, you need head work. (I'm not sure if this is on the B6 engines, i have a B7).

The whole Photobucket thing is crazy, it is affecting every forum, and almost every write-up.

We haven't done the timing belt yet. It was replaced at 120,000 miles so I pulled the cover and everything looks good for now. We will do it before he gets it tuned though, we are trying to get all the Audiisms out of it right now.

When we do the timing belt, it's going to get a new water pump with a metal impeller. The one in there right now is metal as well.

I assume you're talking about the cam chain tensioner on the back of the engine with the plastic guides? That's actually next on our list. The half moon gasket is leaking underneath it, and I'm pretty sure it has never been changed, so there's probably nothing left.

I just looked, the 1.8 doesn't have a cam follower (be glad), it is a sewing thimble looking part that the cam shaft rubs against. It is a wear item that sits between the high pressure fuel pump and the cam lobe. Think metal to metal constant rubbing. If the part fails, a piece of metal runs through the engine and the expensive fuel pump and cam shaft gets damaged from two parts come in contact...

The chain tensioner is an issue, that does need to be addressed.

I shouldn't keep moving this off topic, but also check the diverter valve, if you haven't already (keeps turbo boost pressure, and releases pressure when needed). A big leak should cause a code, but a small leak will prevent maximum boost, another pre-tuning important part.

Has anyone installed Xpel headlight film on a 06 to 08 truck? It's two pieces for each headlight, I'm curious how the seam turns out. I installed a kit on my Fusion and Sorento with great success, but I'm nervous about multiple pieces.

Had to replace my front pass shock was chasing a vibration and my shock was blown causing the tire to literally bounce on the road.

One of my mounting bolts broke on the drivers mirror so it would violently shake down the highway. And they do shake.

aftermarket mirrors shake, my OEM ones on my blue truck dont at all, my 4th gen replicas only have minor shakes, but if you buy mopar mirrors they shouldn't shake hardly at all

on a 3rd gen they just look so out of place, i was never a fan of the little mirrors design on this generation, lifted or lowered the tow mirrors seem to fit better IMO

well they got the non tow mirrors right on the 4th gen, they look like a truck mirror, if the 3rd gen half ton mirrors looked more like that i think more people would live with them rather than buy tow mirrors, not me of course lol
