Will there be a 2017 Ram 1500 Hellcat?

Unclear if FCA will jump on the turbo bandwagon,,, (IMHO, if designed properly, there is no legitimate 'fear' involved with boosted engines, so it may just be a matter of time before we see more of 'em. )

The 5.7 will eventually need to evolve, but it has no future in OEM forced induction,,, It never was designed for it. So,, like everything else in this world,,, either evolve, or f a d e a w a y,,,

(Jeesh, I remember when 7+ liter engines were plentiful, They're all but gone now, and we perceive 6 liters as 'big',,, =-/ )

I think they need to put the HEMI in storage and bring out twin turbo 4 bangers so we can pay less carbon tax...

i know guys who dont even bat an eye at $85,000. $15,000 more for something thats either limited or if there is 15G worth of better than the next guys... they will pay.

there is a new Ram 2500 at the dealer where i got my my Ram. They're asking online: $82,450. with tax its about $93-94,000 not counting the extras the dealers charge.

You completely and utterly missed my point.

I very specifically called out 1500s, not 2500s.

The difference in price is huge. My R/T cost me around 35k out the door. A 2500 with the same options in a full size cab would easily be over 60k.

My point was is that a Hellcat ram, if done like the R/T, would not sell very well for what it would cost. The price would be at least as much as the Challenger and Charger, and for that much most people will look elsewhere.

Are you speaking option wise? Like Hellcat power and badging, but minimal features?

You guys pay 100k for a normal 1500?

Not $100K for a 1500 but some loaded 3500s have been sold off the lot for $100K+, especially up in Fort McMurray. There's a '15 1500 R/T on the lot in Edmonton right now that is asking $75K but the dealership has lowered it, wheels/tires, and a maggy supercharger on it, truck has less than 120kms on it. They've sold 3 of them this summer if that's any indication and a Hellcat Ram would have more power and a high price tag.

I know a few of them as well. One guy bought his '15 limited 2500 HD for $84K off the lot and has since dropped another $15K in mods, they're definitely out there.

I'm saying that the difference in price between a Challenger Hellcat and Challenger R/T will likely be similar to the difference in price between a Ram Hellcat and a Ram R/T, but the difference in prices may actually be more.

From what I've seen, a Challenger R/T can be had for less than my Ram R/T. The Challenger Hellcats are selling from $65,000-$70,000, so I'd expect a Ram Hellcat to cost at least $70,000-$80,000.

Yes, I would imagine that it would only start out around those PR's. I would imagine that you could buy an R/T like yours and put 10K into it and have as much if not more performance than the Hellcat motor.

they need a 1500 with a big ass diesel 20" of lift, 24s, sitting on some toyo 44s....

I saw the one of the turquoise 2500s at a show in Albequreque a few months ago without the wrap on it. With the 10" lift and 40's w/ 22s it was lookin sick.

I'm just really wondering what ram is doing...seems like ford and Chevy are already making some changes to their 2015 models, and we are still working with our 4th Gen rams from 2009 (I guess you can also says 2013).

Don't want ram to fall behind because this type of competition is a good thing because it keeps things honest, but I would like to at least heat something on the next Gen ram.

Reguardless of what the next truck looks like, I have roughly 2 more years to pay off my truck and I will pay it off so I can get a charger...muahahaha!!

If this is what the changes produce I hope ram sticks with the 4th gen styling. Because these are horrible lol. a07f93bf397c699db04754000f767556.jpg

Volvo already has TT 4's,,, And they were experimenting w/triple turbo 4's.

If the 5.7 could match the 'triple' volvo's power/liter, (225 HP/liter) it would be cranking out well over 1,250 HP,,,,

(The Rams 5.7 currently makes just over 69 HP/liter. Pentastar is around 84 HP/L, 2015 F-150 5.0 = 77 HP/L, EcoBoost 3.5 in F150 = 104 HP/L)

Not even close.

First, you'd have to rebuild the motor. That's an easy 10k right there. Then you need some forced induction. That's another 10k. But the hellcat is more than just a motor. You have an upgraded transmission and driveline as well. I wouldn't be surprised for that to be 10k. You also have better brakes and suspension, which is another 10k.

All of the sudden the numbers on the Hellcat start to make more sense.

10k for a rebuild ?? I can see the 10k for the 'charger. For that money should have more than 700 hp

I know a certain engine right now that has 25-30k in it, no turbo, no 'charger, no NOS, single 4 bbl, 1200 hp, 950 ft lbs Dyno proven.

And it rides in a 78 cutlass body.....5.1 sec in the 1/8, front tires in the air the whole way, on 10" slicks.

it is a bit more than 5.7l tho.....more like 9.8l

Good luck getting a 5.7L to hold 700 hp reliably and drive like OEM for less than 10k.

Seen more than a few who have, went for a look in the showroom of a dealership while my friends' truck got an oil change there, sitting in the middle of the showroom was a new 1500 with a 4" lift, a set of 35's and a few other cosmetic things, all in maybe 8k worth of accessories. They wanted 120k for it, I nearly suffocated laughing at the salesman :roflsquared: Sure enough though, saw it later when they sold it, and turns out I went to school with the guy that bought it.
