Okay so I went into the parts department at my dealership today with the correct part numbers for the Cabin air filter mod ( 68052292AA - 5058693AA ) and the guy was clueless lol I mean just from posting on here I am more over qualified for his job that he has probably had for 30+ years. Anyways so I then go over to maintenance, the main reason why I went to the dealership. My front bumper sits weird and my right headlight does not have the same spacing as the left.

So the guy comes out and he is nothing but escuse my language a 'douche'. He barley gives me the time to explain the problem on the truck and he just stood there as im trying to show him both left and right sides spacing and he starts off with I think your being to picky there bud.. Like are you kidding me! Like there is a problem with the truck and he basically denied there was one and he started talking about his 30 years being there and its their build quality. common. its a simple repositioning you ass. he basically refused to do it so im gonna try anther dealership tomorrow.

like what is wrong with customer service in dealerships now a days.

I hear ya on the parts. My parts guy damn near made me sign a waiver acknowledging I wouldn't try to return the parts if they didn't fit. I told him to do himself a favor and write them down so he'd look better to future RAM customers as he suggested that as an add-on sale,

Wow that's ridiculous! But I've ran into a similar issue before too. My truck was supposed I come with auto start from the factory but I guess they some how forgot to out it in. (Idk how?!). So I bring my truck to the dealership and explain that my auto start isn't working and they find out that I'm missing the module. I was like ok, just order it and put it on and it's ok, but no. They wanted me to pay $1500 to get it ordered and installed! Needless to say I was pissed and argued with them since it wasn't an add on, it was an option that was SUPPOSED to be on my vehicle but wasn't. Well in the end, after talking to the GM of the dealership and calls to corporate, they cooperated and installed it free of charge. But I agree, what the hell is wrong with customer service at dealerships now a days?!

Well I've started going to a different dealership and they are a lot better with customer service. So when my sister decided to get her challenger she went to the dealership I originally bought my truck from and they have not gotten any better at customer delight...

I think the problem with dealers these days is they are now running on close margins.

They have to justify to Ram that it is a warranty issue so they get reimbursed for there shop service time.

Every job that is not covered by warranty is out of the dealers pocket.

It's unfortunate to say but I think your right. The guy in parts tried telling me today that if I swapped my exhaust and CAI that the computer would know even if I put the OEM parts on before taking it back to the dealership. is this this true?

I'd say no if you disconnected the battery for 15 min so the computer relearned how to run on the stock components

The body line on my fender is about 1/4" off from the door and have put off taking it back for this reason. Its just not worth it to me to drive 30 mins to argue with them and best case scenario go without my truck for a day or two. But I take a little responsibility for not looking it over before I drove it of the lot

Unless you remove cats or sensors from the exhaust the computer should not know the difference.

The same for intake, unless you remove sensors it should not matter.

I think he means the dealers parts computer would track that he had bought parts?

Sucks the service that the guy gave you. He obviously needs to be reported. Ive had nothing but excellent service at both the original dodge dealer I got my truck from and the one in Huntsville, al.

Wow. If somebody told me I was being too picky with my truck I think I'd tell him let's go have a talk with your manager. That is terrible.

I have two dealerships within 15 minutes of my house. One I went to, originally test drove a couple Rams. They were complete jerks. I went to the other dealership, no test drive needed, and got a much better deal on my truck. Funny thing is, my truck came from the other local dealer (dealer traded to get me it). I have stopped in to the first one a couple times asking about warranty work and they always tell me there is no one to look at it then and to come back at 8:00 am the next morning. Screw that. Dealer I got my truck from, they are not the fastest, but they will look at every little thing I bring to their attention and provide me with a loaner vehicle. So yeah, not every dealer is created equal.

The dealership that I was dealing with to order parts for my Hemi swap has a couple parts guys one guy was awesome I'd tell him what I was looking for and he'd look it for me no problem.

Now if the other parts guy answered the phone it was totally different. He'd always ask me for a VIN # which wouldn't help him since it would bring up parts for a 98 ram with a 5.9 magnum but I was looking for parts for a Hemi. Always seems like a jack ass on the phone, I mean when I tell him exactly what I'm looking for how hard is it to just look it up? The other guy never has a problem so why would he?

So I guess even in the same dealership you can run into the good and bad stuff.

That's why I ordered the cabin door on ebay. I didn't have to leave my house, and waste gas. I bought the filter from Napa -- near my home. My dealer has been great, but it's a drive out of the way from home or work.

If you are in the U.S., under the the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act Magnuson, a dealer can only fault non-OEM parts under warranty if those parts are the cause of the failure. Your CAI isn't going to cause a failure and neither is your exhaust. Mess with the O2 sensors or Cats, thats a different story.

If you pop a code for emmissions or other issues you can reset to stock before taking it in, but chances are it will be an unrelated failure that can not void your warranty.

If your Vancover, BC, well, you may just be out of luck.

Damn I'm so sorry to hear about that. That sounds like an awful experience. From what I've seen and experienced while I've been in car dealerships, one strategically placed email and a couple of "firm" phone calls to the managers of that dealership would probably cost that A-Hole his job. And it sounds like he deserves to be unemployed. What an *******. You would think that a blue collar guy like that would understand that you spent tens of thousands of dollars on a product, so you want it to be perfect.

That's shameful and I hope you can get your issues fixed man. Best of luck.

After seeing your video it seems they just slapped your truck together.

What I mean is the main part that is installed first in the front end clip was not positioned correctly which made every other part miss aligned.

I think problem you are going to have is the amount of time (LABOR) the dealer or body shop is going to have to correct your problem. To try an repair an obvious assembly line and quality problem and get Ram to pay for their time!!

The other thing that comes to my mind is the truck was damaged and a **** poor repair job was done.
You will never know if this was the case, because the dealer or Ram will never admit to it if it happened.

Which are the points I would stress in any talks with any one regarding the problem, You want to have a paper trail to prove you are trying to get the problem corrected. WHO WHEN WHERE you talked to documented.

In some states it is legal to record phone conversation with out telling the other party they are being recorded, my state SC is one of them there is no expectation of privacy when talking on the phone.

I would go around the service department of the dealership you bought the truck from to the sales mgr and tell him you want to speak to the owner of the dealership.

I had to get local TV trouble shooter person involved once to put pressure on the dealer to do the right thing.

I would try another dealer in your area if you have one first and see what they say or do to help you.

If you do not have any success then I only see arbitration with RAM as being your next step.

Or the last resort is to find lemon law attorney and start the process, some work on percentage and enjoy battling the auto makers.

Look at this site to help you find an attorney. Lawyers Find A Lawyer, Law Firm, Attorney & Legal Services: martindale

Good luck trying to get your problem repaired let us know how you do!!

Regards
DOn
