I had a 1990 Olds Calais with the Quad4. That was a snappy car. Had a bunch of issues wih the ignition module/coil circuits that they ingeniously mounted right on top of the hot engine...lol.

Other than that, I really liked that car.
Those cars did run really good. My mother kept hers until about 1998 or so then 'sold' it to my cousin who was in college. She hadn't paid her so my mother didn't transfer the title so cousin was basically borrowing it from her. Car broke down in her college town and my mother got a couple of parking tickets in the mail so she told me if I went and got it I could have it. Hooked up my trailer and towed it home. Yep...bad coil pack. Replaced it and it ran great...for about 3 weeks until it blew a head gasket...lol. So I replaced that and drove it 2 or 3 more years then sold it.

1st wife passed after 19 years marriage. 2nd wife and I have been together for 32 years. Funny that everyone gave us 6 months at most because I am 18 years older than her and there is no way it would last. We have outlasted all but 1 couple that poopoo'd us.

When we met, my sister inquired about her age. I told her she is a lot younger than I. She asked if I can legally take her over state lines. LOL

I wish the 3rd time would have been a charm, but can say that #4 is the best of them all, in fact we've been together for 23+ years now :)

Wow , two months of being exposed to any dealer , you must be a very patient person.
The last couple cars I’ve tried for two hours .
I go in armed with knowledge on what I am after.

I’m not looking to have a long term relationship with the salesperson , I just want their asking price, then counter offer . If they want to go back and forth I tell them my offer again , then leave.

The phone is usually ringing in less than 1/2 hour .

Then I inform that due to health issues , the paperwork must be expedited as my health prevents me from staying more than a couple of hours . Somehow the paperwork is done quickly.
Or maybe it is my charming personality that comes out when buying a vehicle that speeds the process along.

I just sold my wife’s Kia last week, and am waiting for her to choose her next car. So this week or next I am going to meet another new dealer salesperson, wish us all luck. I wonder who’s going to have to wait in the truck during negotiations ?
Tools ,I shop that way, my last truck was about 3 days, but after tire kicking and test drives, I told them what I would pay, all in. and after the sales guy had a heart attack, and recovered 2 days later he phoned me and said OK
If you don't finance, it screw their mind up .

Back in 2005, I bought a new Ram in Edmonton that was painful, at Derrick Dodge. They spent all day passing the buck. When I got up and told them I don't have time for the bull.S. and started to drive out, they finally got down to talking, and not running off to the "Boss" (coffee machine)
BTW , the super deal in the paper, that I went in for, could not be found in the 2 lots they had, surprise.

Small town shops know that bs don't cut it. I seen a fellow spend 3mil. in the time it takes me to drink a coffee, He told the sale mang. what he needed and said your best price, and it was a great price, the fellow said OK and wrote the cheque.

If some shop is so stupid as not to balance new tires, or can't do a proper oil change, It would be the last time I set foot in the place.

At one time a shop hired a kid for oil changes, and he doubled up the gasket on the filter.
owner takes of and makes it a few blocks and motor is pounding. They could track it back to the shop lift from the oil trail.
That Tire shop that does oil and such bought a new motor for that screw up.
The kid was booted out, mainly because he never bothered to check his work,
not because of the mistake, as we all have screwed up sometime. If you have not, you an't working.

PS off topic, I'm always down down for that, mind wonders in circles. One wife since the 1960's She says in anouther 40-50 yrs ,I may shape up < not a chance ;)

Well, it warms the cockles of my heart to learn that a lot of guys have fun with car shopping and don't let the dealers get away with the usual crapola.

The one thing I and others would've benefited from in school are mind reading classes. I've never been able to pick up the technique on my own.

Watching copious amounts of Star Trek episodes was/is a good substitute. Spock showed just how to read minds!

The last time I bought a truck , the young salesman had to keep going back to the old guy , to see if my offer would be accepted.
After two or three times the older salesman came out to deal with me directly.
More of going into the back room bs.the next time he returned , I dropped my offer by several thousand.
He looked at me with disbelief.
As I told him I’m done playing, and out of here . He was panicking as he begged me to wait while he went into the back room for the fifth round.
Now the younger comes up to me with the biggest $h!t eating grin , stating he had never seen the old man squirming like that before .

The youngster gets me to the side , tells me he had never seen the old man so flustered, and thought what I did was great.

I paid the price I was willing to, and after 57 more hours they unlocked the door to the finance office, which reminded me of a story I read on https://lexus-financial-services.pissedconsumer.com/review.html , then I was finally free to enjoy my then new Hemi.
The sales guy completely missed the details you were clear about, and mixing up the year, drivetrain, and engine is a huge mistake. Walking away was the right move, because that dealership clearly lost the sale due to their lack of attention. Hopefully your next visit goes smoother and you find the exact 2026 4x4 Hemi you want.

A lot of experiences, good and bad down decades. Best ever was buying my Wife a new car year before last. A flawless. smooth and professional experience. I would bet their service is as good. Wish they were closer to me. Gem City Motors, Sidney, MT. Five Stars.

Yeah... that "good cop/bad cop" stunt has never worked on me. I just tell them to choose who the sales person is that has decision making authority, and that, if they can't or won't do that... I leave.
