Ok ive gotten alot of pm's about my headlights i will give you the pros and cons about 2 different brands of projectors.

But bottom line if you want a really good set of headlights the jj at retro is the best bet.

Ok first we will discuss recon

Price -549-560

If you plan on installing hid's in these you will have to drill out the bulb housing the led's in the outside strip are dull and the led (halo rings) are dull and not very bright. You can upgrade to ccfl but will cost more.

Spyder

Price -297-300

Look at them dont they look just like the recons but at a huge price difference.
Do not need to drill out housing to put in a hid bulb. Same as above the leds are dull and can be upgraded to ccfl foir more money.

So the stock h-1 bulb that come stock in both lights are even worse the stock bulbs on the quad headlights. But the spyder are better because of the price difference and quality.

Reason i got mine was simple wanted a different look and i planed on taking them apart i added much better ccfl rings and way brighter led bulbs and also painted mine inside to match the truck.

But i wanted to get this out there so you know the price difference and the hassle you have to go through to put an hid bulb in the recons.

This is what you have to do to get hid's im recons

So hopefully this helps but like i said if you want a really good set of headlights talk to JJ

So if I'm considering the recon or spyder... I should probably get the spyder. Better deal and easier to upgrade to HIDsm right?

Nice info.

So you are saying the stock halogen bulbs suck, what about the light output with hids?

If the Spyder halogen bulbs suck, what type are they and do you think it would help to use better quality halogens? I'm also curious how the light output with the halogens compares to the OEM duels not quads?

I have the spyders with hids. Swap from halogen to hid was very easy there is even a full right up online if you search hard enough. Light output on the h1 projector is eh, with the hid it comes to life def much better than halogen but a hid projector would still have better output/cutoff. But for the price the spyder+hid is pretty good.
