8 speed tranny, the reaction you get when coming to a quick stop, 8 speed tranny starting out in very low gear not really smooth transition such as when in a parking lot going very slow,

Not sure if this is all one complaint or not, but don't understand - can you elaborate?

...not the best heater I have had, especially on really cold days.

That is really interesting. I think one other person posted similarly (and I responded similarly). This truck has BY FAR the BEST HEATER I have ever used. You might note that my location is Vermont. It gets cold here, on a global scale of measurement. Per thousand people, I bet we're in the 95th percentile; IOW only 5% of the population of the world lives in a place where the average low temp is lower.

I have driven everything from (original) VW Bugs to modern Mercedes and everything between ('70-00 Saabs, '70-14 GM trucks, various **** and Fords) and NOTHING comes even CLOSE to the speed or power of the heating in my Ram, the very first Mopar product I've ever owned. I cannot dream of a better heating system. Granted, I park in a "somewhat insulated" detached garage, but it gets down into the teens or 20s when it's 10-20 below 0 outside. But seriously, no matter how cold it is, within about 3 minutes of starting I have warmth coming out the vents, and at 5 minutes it's "hot air" and the fan never even gets to High.

Auto-activated heated seats and steering wheel don't hurt, but they only get maybe 15 seconds head start because I don't remote start the truck until I've activated the garage door opener and headed outside.

Same thing with my '11. I live in Atlantic Canada and I find that mine has the best heater I've ever had as well. I'm fact, if I had to complain, I'd almost say it's too hot. I have a hard time regulating it to a decently warm temperature without sweating myself out of it. It usually sits about halfway on the dial once it's warmed up. I don't have remote start, but I have heated seats and wheel, so I just go out and start it and let er warm up for a few minutes in the winter and it is always toasty warm by the time I'm in it. Its not uncommon for me to be driving with the window down an inch or two in the winter either, because of how well the heater works.

Same here. I am in MA and think the heater in the Ram is very good! :favorites13:

The tranny is seperate issues. When you come to a stop the tranny almost feels like it double jumps into the lower gear after you stop. Maybe that is not a good description. I saw others mention this in posts. Maybe someone else can think of a better way to describe it.

The parking lot thing is like it is starting in a lower gear than necessary and the almost acts like it waits a hair to long and then is a little abrupt going into the next gear.

Maybe there is something wrong with my heater. Another thing is if you put it on floor only and turn the fan up high you can hear a huge amount of air rushing up by the windshield but contained inside the dash like it goes there first and then is directed down to the floors. I will have to post more specifically when the winter comes about the heater but on the really cold days it seemed inadequate. Even on lesser days it was just ok. I have a 25 - 30 minute ride to work most of it highway.

The air conditioner some days will freeze you out and then on occasion be barely adequate when it gets in the mid 90s. Mid 70s and 80s are usually fine. Don't get me wrong. I love the truck even though I have listed quite a few things.

The only issue I feel with the drive train is what I interpret as a "no fire" situation. I don't know if that's what's happening but it seems that way. It feels to me that when you take your foot completely off the gas the fuel is shut completely off. However, as you slow down, at some point the gas is turned back on so that the engine doesn't stall. This makes a sudden small surge which can be disconcerting since you are coming to a stop.

I have the auto climate control and almost always leave it in auto. Usually leave temp at 72, sometimes 70 or 74, and am very happy with how it decides what to do. I don't think I've ever changed the direction of air flow - if I take it off auto it's just to turn AC off and adjust fan speed, and that's when I have the Windows open.

My drive to work is 6-7 minutes. I have warm air within 2-3 minutes (in winter at 0 and below). By the time I get to work I have Hot air coming out.

Both of you ate describing the 2-1 clunk/thump/jerk. Sometimes it feels like the truck has been tapped from behind by the bumper of another car.

There is a fix for 3.6L engines, I don't know if they ever came out with a TSB for 5.7L 8-speeds.

I'm pretty sure this happens while remaining in 2nd gear. Will pay more attention.

I also feel what seems to be the same effect when off the gas to go around a slow corner and then step on it again. Seems no matter how slowly/carefully I press the pedal it feels you you turned a switch from Off to On. It happens every day on one particular corner where I'm in 3rd gear.

Just remembered another dislike, and I don't believe it's been posted yet.

Occasionally (and only when remote starting), the 8.4A radio is on a different station than it was when I shut it off. And I know it's a different one because it's one I never listen to. And no one else drives my truck.

I have heard it described as the 3-2 jump as well. Mine only did it from 2-1. They flashed the transmission and performed the quick relearn on it, it's been perfect since then.

I wish the box sides we're so plain looking. Just some more lines in them.

I put it in Manual8 today, and both on the slow corner as well as coming to a stop at the bottom of a steep hill, the indicator showed it was in 4 both times well before and after the event.

Well the 2015 chevy midnight edition in black is on par with a sport as far as style goes

Of course style is a matter of opinion, but to me the GMs look like they were hacked out of a hunk of metal while the Ram looks like it was sculpted in clay and then duplicated. In fact I've heard some people say it's over-styled.

No included GPS.
Rear window should have auto-close like the front windows.
Had to pay extra to put cup holders in the doors.
Windshield washer spray nozzles on the hood leave water spots like a ****.
The base of the antenna is super faded.
Factory stereo and speakers are garbage.

Even with all that, I still love my RAM.

Oh, and I have to adjust my rear view mirror literally every single day, sometimes more than once a day. But that's probably something I could tighten and just haven't yet.
