Driving downhill? A lot?
Yes trucks lie. But to take a full size truck and get 18 miles per gallon on long cruises is pretty nice.My dash lies to me too.
even at 1/2 mile per gallon I was still getting 19 mpg.Try doing the math by hand! You will find on average that the truck reading is off about 1/2 mpg. At least on my truck ! I have read other's say about the same reading being off . BUT even 15,7 mpg on a Hemi I would be happy
Actually I do the math on every tank. Straight cruising with no load is about 1/2 mpg off. Towing heavy it is off about 3/4 mpg. don't know why the difference but that how this truck is. I actually get better mileage with the 4.56 gears than i did with 3.73's as long as i stay under 75 mph.Try doing the math by hand! Oh yeah, well I got 8.9 mpg a few tanks ago........ pulling a 14k lb 5th wheel for 160 miles doing 75 mph against a head wind three quarts of the way. Beat that!
Nice, i had a similar experience with my 17 6.4\3.73. On the highway running unloaded, i was up over 19mpg average. I thought that was pretty good for a 3\4 ton, cc, 4x4 truck.
