I unfortunately am being stationed at camp Pendleton. I currently have a 2017 Ram 1500 with a 5.7. Pretty much stock other then a Carven Competitor muffler and AEM dryflow. Can anyone give me any insight if they are currently there? I have the stock muffler, but i am extremely lazy.

?? on what you're specifically asking.

As far as Camp Pendleton, there's worse places to be than Oceanside, the beaches are sweet, just be sure you shuffle your feet along the sand once you're in the water, the stingrays will sting if you accidentally step on them.

Say hi to Mount Motherf*cker for me. 1/1/1 Horno, 0311/31 88-89. Stay out of Oceanslime and play in either Encinitas or up in San Clemente. Best Mexican food on the planet in Leucadia.

I think he is asking if he can run his current set up the way it is or does he need to return to stock in order to pass California smog test.

Having lived in Oceanside/Carlsbad/Vista for 20 years prior to leaving for Texas, 2 of which was on that base, I ran across many a vehicle that had Az plates with smog testing never being an issue. Dunno if things have changed.

I thought military personnel could leave their POV registered in their home state, so if you’re from a “friendly” state regarding tint, exhaust, etc. you’d be fine. Not true?

I find the dichotomy of California's legendary car culture and their laws regarding automotive modifications more than slightly amusing.

But seriously, you couldn't PAY me to go to California. Read the economic news, businesses and people are fleeing California like there is no tomorrow... that whole state is going to collapse in a few more years.

My sympathies in that Uncle Sam doesn't give you an option when he sends you somewhere.

The flight of tax paying residents out of Ca is at a all time high. We are looking at other states. Arizona, NM, TX and NV all have new housing developments. 7 outside of Tuscon and Phoenix. Talking with them, they claim the majority of buyers are from Ca. Sacramento is so concerned that they are talking about passing "scratch back" legislation. Their idea is, have those that leave, pay tax's or fee's back to Ca for services they received while in Ca for a period of time after they move. There is no limit to their socialist idea's. 1100 new legislative rules and regulations passed in 2017.

And they all went to Colorado and ruined that state. We just got the heck out of there, couldn't take it any more. Funny how they flee the mess they created only to do it all over again in another state.

You still have your cats, so I would think you would be ok. I have been gone from there for 13 years though, so I am not absolutely sure. Sorry you haven't got any solid answers yet. Free bump for ya.

As long as you dont have longtube headers, and are still running stock cats, you will pass smog. Shouldnt have anything to worry about.

Damn I am confused. Why are you registering the vehicle in Ca. You are active military on temp assignment. I "suspect" that you may have an exemption from the Ca registration and smog BS. If so, you keep your Az registration current. It is well worth your time to dig into this and "know" what you must or do not have to do. Your base legal officer should be able to help. Hoping you are exempt.

Ramaz, go to Ca.gov. Download form REG 5046. NRM Nonresident military license fee exemption. "You qualify for this exemption if your duty station is located in California and your vehicle not used in a trade or business"
I only see one issue. Your window tinting. PC Bay Area is the worst. Can issue a correction ticket if your window tinting is to dark. Easy fix. You do not want to be a "Ca resident"

They're like a swarm of locusts, devouring everything that is good and wholesome in one area before moving onto greener pastures. They never stop to consider that their own lifestyles and beliefs might be the problem. I've been watching over the past decade and now it seems their sights are set on Texas.
