Does the OBD GENIE device allow you to install codes that are typically not available to your vin # per the dealer ?

I suspect it will only allow you to enable codes that are already there , just not active yet ?

Yes. Chrysler only exposes certain options to the dealer to enable. The Genie, like the tool I have, manually sets (theoretically) any option that exists in the BCM. I say theoretically because it should be able to do every single one of them, but there might be some that the tool(s) don't know exist and therefore don't expose. There's no cargo cam one I could find, for example, but the Genie guys figured out where it was and are therefore able to set it.

Just thought I would give my 2c on the issue. My original truck was a no frills Express with the RA1 and no overhead console. Added the overhead console with homelink and compass, wired it into the side plug and had the dealer flash CV2 and JFJ. Been working fine ever since. Heres a snippit of all my sales codes that were added at that one time.

From my experience, if your cluster comes with one of the corners set to display the compass it will work intermittently, but once you decide to move it/ put something else where it is, it will disappear. I'll try to make a genie for the JFJ code if i can on monday.

Cuyler , you're probably more likely to be better versed than I am at how to get my compass heading up and running ....?

Take a few mins and read my post # 1 here ( the OP ) and the next few pages or so and let me know what I may have done incorrectly.

Maybe the JFJ code is what I'm missing ?

I also do not understand how some with no O/H console or compass module still get a compass heading , even with the RA2 .

Some , when they just upgrade to the premium cluster then get the compass heading in the radio ?

Anyway take a read through the 1rst few pages here and let me know what I could do differently.

I'm trying to get compass on my upgraded cluster and on the upgrade 8.4RA4 I'd like to get both temperature and compass. My 5.0 radio had the compass
button but I don't remember where it displayed...
Also where did you get the list of options on your truck? I saw info at the dealer but had to take pictures as the service writer couldn't or wouldn't print them out :-(

My 2013 SLT came with the RA2 and basic overhead console/lights/rear sliding window. My build sheet shows:

I had a similar experience with my 2013 7" cluster (my 2014 7"cluster had no temp available) I had the temp displayed when I plugged in the cluster and then when I was scrolling the top right display the outside temperature option disappeared! I was pissed and bummed. I scrolled back to "none" I think, exited and then presto outside temperature returned I'm not screwing with the upper right display that's for sure! Now if I can get the upper left to display compass that would be cool

Im not sure what the part# is for the plug or if mopar makes a repair kit but in many cases when you buy the overhead console on Ebay they basically cut them out of the trucks and all of the connectors are included with the console. Remember the 2013 and newer trucks use a different compass module than the 09 to 12 trucks. Also remember you will need to activate the codes in your BCM and have the correct wiring in order for the compass to work. In many cases the dealer can do and it can also be done with the alphaOBD tool.

I got an overhead console with the compass module on the way. It doesn't have the connector. I tried searching around and Mopar dosn't have a repair kit. Ill hit up every junk yard near me hopefully I can find it.

Remember the actual harness is glued to the headliner so if you pull down the headliner on a truck thsts properly equipped the harness should be there. Obviously I recommend pulling the whole harness.

I think I found it acdelco PT2779. Noticed our modules are made by gentax so I did some more searching and found a compass module acdelco 20860277 is in almost every GM vehical from 2009-2012. The connector port looks excatly like ours
