Yeah they supposedly put the new one in. I will check the part # on the paperwork tomorrow

Tell you what, if they don’t get this resolved we’ve got to make a big deal out of this. I’ve never had a car or truck that I couldn’t just slam the nozzle in and fuel up. This is ridiculous.

Guess this isn't a random problem.

It's primarily a California problem, It's also a problem in any other state that mandates the use of those insipid vapor recovery contraptions that don't really do anything but get in the way.
We don't have that crap in Tennessee and I have never had any problems with the nozzle getting stuck in the filler tube.

When I have traveled to states that have that ****, I always pull the spring loaded rubber thing back by hand and just put the nozzle in far enough to get the gas in the tank without spillage.

That’s a reason I think it should be a nationwide recall, because when folks travel to other states they’re going to have that problem. Just because most states don’t have the vapor recovery isn’t an excuse. Many states do, and people have said they had the problem without the vapor recovery. It’s a truck, they need to be able to put gas in it without having to yank the side off pulling the nozzle out. Never had a problem like this with my Ford or Toyotas, never even thought about it. Now I dread every time I have to fill up.

Just pull the rubber sleeve back and don't shove the nozzle all the way in and you'll never have a problem.
I had a '77 Dually that was a pain in the ass filling up because of the same exact problem that some guys are having with their RAM's.

That was when I figured out the trick for filling it up.

Sorry that's not true. Only works about half the time on mine. In fact..some of those sleeves are so thick they dont flex hardly at all about. And even if true that shouldn't be necessary

Yep, I've tried that as well, doesn't work with the nozzles around here. Far too stiff AND we shouldn't have to be inventing tricks to gas our trucks up.

I've never had a problem pulling the rubber sleeve back...Maybe you guys need to develop your upper body strength.
It sucks to have to do stupid **** like that but my '77 Chevy Dually and My '94 GMC needed the same work around with the Nanny Nozzles.

I'm not really too concerned with it because it doesn't seem to be a big problem with my truck.

I install 300 pound ovens and over range microwaves daily, have plenty of upper body strength. Besides, pulling the boot up reminds me of lifting your skirt to walk across a puddle ;)

No excuse for this.

Jay

Hey, come on by and visit me here in Huntington Beach. Great town, I think you'll love it, then you can go with me to the local Arco station and show me how it's done...

I won't wear a skirt, but I will take a video of you trying to yank the damn nozzle out.

*****. That was a quick one. Cant remember if I posted it on this thread or another but the last time it got stuck so bad I literally ripped 3 of the 4 rivets out through the plastic surrounding the inlet. I was so effin over it. Now I gotta take it back to see if they can figure out how to get it to take more than half a gallon without clicking off. On a 32 gallon tank it gets old real quick. For those of you curious the part they put in is " 68448220AA tube-fuel filler".

Is that they newly updated one?

1) No skirt for this Boird.
2) Glad here in TX not have the filler issue.
3) Must be a California thingy????
4) Had no trouble TX to NJ, gotta be a West Coast (tree hugger) issue,

ALL IMHO.....

That should be the new one. Are you pushing it in far enough? Mine only clicks off if it's not pushed in enough. It's a balancing act to get it in far enough to seal, but not so far that it gets stuck. But with the new part I would hope you can push it in without it getting stuck.
