My truck has 3.73 and 35s. I towed a 15k backhoe about 45 miles several times. Truck had no issues running 65 it was on flat ground. I wouldn't want to flying down the interstate with it but for occasional highway trips no problems whatsoever, stopping was more of a concern.

I’d rather tow 15K of backhoe than 10K of box trailer.

I have a pretty heavy 5th wheel, around 13k and mine does great on flat ground It actually towed well from GA to WV until I got into the steeper, longer grades here in WV. (Plus I was living in the rv, so I had a lot more junk packed away making me closer to probably 14 or 15k loaded for that one trip).

I will be gearing for added grunt while towing, but overall, I only tow 5-6 times a year. I couldn't justify the Cummins price right now for that little towing. I'm pretty happy with my 6.4 right now

About to get my new 2500.
Was wondering will this thing sound decent if I just swap out the stock muffler for something better or do I really gotta drop a ton of money on a cat back system? I would imagine the 6.4 is similar in tone to the 5.7? Never had the 6.4 until now.

Nick @gotexhaust has a Solo Exhaust Delete Kit that will wake that 6.4 up and give you a good increase in torque and a few horses too. I’ve got it and absolutely love it.
I have 2 videos on YouTube for a great example of what it sounds like.

I'm really just wanting a direct (or almost direct) Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler.

Second the solo exhaust delete kit. Direct bolt on.I have received a lot of positive comments on it including from the dealership that did wheels and tires. Said it was the best sounding 6.4 to come through.

This is true the wind drag is crazy. It seems to struggle with the single axle trailer pulling a golf cart with full straight windshield and ramp gate than it did with the hoe at least at cruising speeds.

I got the same comments from my dealer too. Then I jumped the techs ass for hot ridding it just to bring it to the front door.

Mufflex has a muffler delete and a muffler replace that utilizes a magnflow muffler, this was one of the earliest mufflers available for the 6.4, I had it and it sounded good, was a little on the conservative side, but under full throttle it was loud.

Last two on the link, Moes is a vendor here and a lot of us source parts from them.

I heard a few Magnaflow samples on YouTube but couldn't find any model or part #'s. They sounded very similar to the 50 series Flowmaster I have on my '02, which I love. That mufflex kit seems to be what I'm looking for providing the muffler has the sound I'm looking for. I've always been a Flowmaster guy so Im not familiar at all with Magnaflow.

A member here “nick@gotexhaust” is a vendor and will hook you up on a good exhaust deal.

If you go to mufflex web site they have video/audio clips of the exhaust.

If I could do it again I’d get the solo muffler delete from Nick, Unfortunately it was not available when I was looking. But I currently have a Muffex s with the magna flow, I think it’s the 14 inch muffler. I was disappointed at first as it was not as loud as I wanted.

Now that it’s been a good 8 months The packing in the muffler has tightened up a bit and it’s a little louder. It’s still not exactly what I’m looking for but I’m not sure I want to buy another exhaust system.

I must've listened to hundreds of muffler delete samples on YouTube for the 6.4 2500. I'm still wishy washy.
Maybe it's the crap cell phone audio (96% of the videos), but on some trucks it sounded great and on others it sounded like you would imagine, a truck with no muffler.
I guess for under 200 it's not too bad of a gamble. Ugh. IDK.

Picked up my '14 2500 6.4 3:73 yesterday in Iowa. 120,000 miles. Drove 300 miles back home to MN and ave mph was 16. Took it easy cause mom was following me in her car, she's elderly. I assume I can do a little better mileage wise as we get into April. It was in the low teens the whole way. Love this truck. This top tailgate piece is a little beat up, anyone have one that looks better?20190228_160741.jpg 20190301_095902.jpg 20190301_114309.jpg

Those tailgate pieces are a dime a dozen on ebay. Cheap!

Who has the Laramie Limited on here and what extra options are there on that? Mine is '14 Laramie 2500 Hemi 6.4. Not complaining but thought mine would have power fold in mirrors, bug deflector, etc. What else is there besides fancy leather?20190301_095902.jpg

Power fold mirrors weren’t an option in ‘14. Bug deflectors are aftermarket.
