My brother asked what I was going to do with the license plates off my truck and it started the wheels turning. Thinking about printing out a picture of the truck and framing it above the plate in my garage. Show my new new truck what it has to live up to.

If you think THAT'S hard to do try giving up
a motorcycle you've owned for 20+ years
A relationship between a guy and his bike
is about as personal as that gets!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Everybody, including my girlfriend, wants me to get rid of my 2nd gen because I drive or more then the 4th gens I own. But my first ever vehicle (technically my first ever truck) was a 2nd gen and this one is exactly like my first one. So I'll never get rid of it no matter what. My first ever vehicle was a 1998 Durango but sadly cancer got her and they didn't make the body panels I needed so I junked her. Still miss that vehicle to this day. The 4th gens I own are growing on me bur they will never be like their father in my eyes

Had to give her up. Can't justify keeping both my rams. Got to fix some wiring on her just before letting her go to the new home. My last bit of bonding and chance to say goodbye. I need a beer. Why do we car guys get so attached to certain vehicles. Took 1 last picture after I pulled the plates off.View attachment 161603

It's a truck, not a puppy. Who cares? I'll sell my truck when I'm done with it, and on that day, I will cease caring about it. I have far more important things to care about.

Personal objects like vehicles that are an integral part of our existences lend themselves through life experiences attached to them, an emotional attachment linked to the hundreds of memories in our existences. My truck at 300000 km is not even halfway through its life and Iwill replace engines and trannies and whatever to keep it around for at least ten more years or in excess of that. As a work truck it is starting to cause problems for me border crossing. The border guy this morn as much as accused me of crossing to work on the side and take the cash I make back home. It works when I work and plays when I play. I thought I might not get across the way things were going.

Yeah, they used to get on me a fair bit with the what do you do for a living when I drove the truck across. It's as though nobody owns them except for work.

ya, I teared up bad when I sold the corvette I had for 25+ yrs-but I wanted to pare down to 1 vehicle and the vette was not ever going to see snow+ it gave me the funds to buy the Ram-I actually will probably never see the vette again as the buyer came from quite a distance and that's probably better that way.

Good looking Ram. I had my first truck 31 years. That was Hell for a long time.

Not going to lie. I'm struggling with it being gone. I did take a final picture and did tear up a little after it drove away. Not full bawling though. I am a man after all. Lol. It's kind of funny because I've had several people tell me I don't have feelings over the years so this is unusual for me as the usually logical and non emotional type. First time loving an inanimate object I guess. If the new owners have any troubles I think I'd refund their money and keep it forever at this point.
Call him and tell him to come back, you changed your mind. What mind you have left. Lol

Well more than 1 beer in and want to call the new owner and ask to buy it back. Why isn't there a support group for this kind of stuff? Lol
Hey your talking to your support group right now. Are you sure you only had ONE beer. Lol

The only vehicle I can honestly say I regret getting rid of was my 2010 SRT8 Challenger. Had a zoomers exhaust and to this day I do not know why I got rid of it. Just a dumb decision on my end. Both kids loved it, my wife loved it, I really loved it.
I don’t know why either. We all do dumb things and then!!!

Depends how many ounces you consider 1 beer. Is a pitcher a glass if you drink out of it?

What year was your Corvette? Not bragging but we have had 11 corvettes over the years from 1956 to 2005. Now we are Corvette less and sad but we enjoyed all of them. Ken Harrison

I get it. I sold my old ZJ this past summer, it was my car from high school. And was quite used even then. It was a great car for me, but I was having to band aid too many things. It also only had one airbag (probably powder by now) and wasn't the safest for the family.
Luckily, I saw it the other day. Still going strong for a high school student down a few miles away.
