Nice man!! Question tho, isnt r-38 like 12in thick? How you putting that in your wall? Looking forward to seeing how those lights work. I started a thread on my shed, still in the planning and funding stage. Cant wait to have what you have
Sorry my fault, R-19 is what's going in the walls. I asked her where did I get 38 from, her reply
"Who knows where you get your ideas from" lol

Our code where I live in NY now specifies R21 over the R19, actually fits the cavity easier.

Roll ups should be installed on Thursday with the side mount motors, after those are installed the shop will be painted (weather permitting) to match our house so black doors with black trim and gutters. Heat inspection is set forMonday, rough in heat and electrical has already passed. The concrete work is set for the 14th and that is supposed to take two days for the filling and stain and coating, finally all electrical is supposed to be done by the 19th.
Kind of a bummer about my lift. The shop Is being used as our food serving and dance area for our wedding in June so I decided to wait until after that to put the lift in. However without the lift there the electrician obviously cant hard wire it up so he said he will have to drill some holes for a bracket and that way when I go to install it everything I need will be right there, because there is supposed to be two plugs and air hookup right there at the floor of the lift. But o well hopefully it won't be to annoying.

Shes ran our insulation company for about 15 years so she knows, she is probably doing 19 instead of 21 to cut some of our cost. It's our own insulation and guys doing the work but we still gotta pay for it lol and with the spray foam and rmax we should be all good

No doubt she knows her stuff and way more than me!!! I just have to use what code dictates for my few jobs and the helpful part is I'm 10 miles from the O&C plant in Delmar NY.

Some updates as well as a change my wife made to the wall insulation. So she met with our guys at the shop and they ended up not liking the 19 in the walls because with the spaces and having no vertical beams the bats would have to much sag. So the new plan is filling the small space between 2 x 6's with R-8 horizontally so its flush, then putting R-19 over the top of that going vertically and using glue and stick pins to keep them together with the FSK pulled tight over the top. They all agreed it would keep my heat in better as well as look better. The rest is the same and insulation will be done Sunday, at least the doors and walls I'm not sure if our spray foam guy will be done or not.
Update is more electrical has been done as well as man door installed and roll ups and side motors all installed and finished. Three of the lights are going to have to be moved now because the tracks for the roll ups will hit them lol think that's it so far, but we are moving again 69b289de616c0ca7c00909f3b98754e7.jpg

It is nice when you can finally close it up to the elements.

I was thrilled when I finally got all my doors finished on my shop.

Now it is a shop, everything else is just finishing work.

A combined R value of 27 in the walls will keep it pretty warm.

Spray foam on the ceiling was done today. They asked me if I wanted bats and paper over the top for that clean finished look but I said I dont care what the ceiling looks like as long as it holds heat4a4d4e3a940cc99157fee5f3d03cd0c8.jpg6770ad36c6bc96764174fea1acd8d87b.jpg

Two guys and 7 hours today, they got all the R8 in and most of the 19 in, started running some of the paper. I also had a little fun and drilled the hole for my motion light outside e4d8d88db3862d0d94c1a951dd1924e7.jpg81e536bcb19e8a866b3ef5735e7f1f34.jpg7078d1a8fd3a0c494fabb38844b1573e.jpg6c6f0cd244bceb679696725800f88478.jpg

After some fun in the scissor lift lol this is where the shop was a hour ago. Dont remember if I said this or not but my wife ended up saying she wants to put the R-11 over the foam on the ceiling so that insulation is here, but wont be put in for a while. Prep work for the concrete staining and coating starts tomorrow and cant have lifts in there for that so they will come back out to finish once that's done and ready776ad40707054746a43f828ace67cb25.jpg6e9519a91e3c3a7a1ed41e60277427cc.jpg30572d5cce439b5ecfcebadf24c63aec.jpg6097becdda6e1f91c0fe5d25fee4f421.jpg

All finished and buttoned up. They will come back for the ceiling and doors once the floor has cured. Our estimator who comes out to decide how much of what you'll need said 1.5" rmax for the doors which would work for unfinished doors but mine are insulated "finished" doors so it wont work. Even though the doors themselves are "insulated" I still want some rigid over them so they are going to swap out the 1.5" for 1" that way we can fit them flush into each section of the door. Our guys say there is no way to attach the rigid to these doors that will work permanently outside of screwing through them (which I'm not doing) but im going to try some of that metal HVAC tape I think. Anyone got any ideas? Our guys ruled out spray adhesives they said they are sure it wont work, and we tried the venture tape they use already and it doesnt stick. Doors have that textured almost thick grain finish. I know screwing would work but I don't want to screw into these doors87684c872d0ad21e0fdf4cf07fd63972.jpg770abb4ea2911e630fb7898732d8c240.jpg81cc4b4356b2fc6717d3e27379818b32.jpg0abe5576cfb2c07c714ea6dda09f3666.jpg
