Found a promo code and the intake for cheap(sub $350) so I figured why not.

Got it this past week, 25-minute install, and here’s my thoughts.

1. Sound. Little shocked here.. Almost nothing and I’m not complaining. Much more muted and does not sound at all like any intakes I’ve had in the past.

2. Quality. Top notch, probably the nicest intake and box I’ve had on a car in a long time. The airbox is also significantly larger than the stock one.

3. Performance. Throttle response is greatly improved, which was one of my largest complaints with my truck. MPG’S may have gone up but I’ll need keep an eye on this to he sure. I would guess at marginal gains through the power and but won’t know till the dyno visit. The largest thing I noticed is there is absolutely zero loss down low that I can feel.

I’ll post some pics of it installed and the dyno sheets in a couple of weeks.

Never had a chance to dyno it, but it helped my gas mileage by a couple of mph overall.

I'm glad you posted this! I have wondered if it was worth it and there was a real world benefit from getting it. They are spendy and I wondered if I would regret it end the end if I couldn't feel an actual improvement. I could use a few extra HP on the highway so it would actually use 8th gear more and stop kicking down to 7th most of the time.

explain to me how that even remotely works.......1 doesnt look like you have the sport hood to get the full benefit of the CAI and 2 you dont have the top cover off to get more air in there

Uses the same ducting as the stock intake just bigger box and cone filter. It’s not designed per se for the sport hood, just has an additional kit to make them work together.

Not expecting ridiculous gain at all from the dyno, but the truck feels a bit smoother which is nice.

It draws air in from outside the fender well, and it is a bigger box with a better filter inside of it. The sport hood setup is a waste of money cuz if it's works like the one on my Challenger it's about 95% show and 5% function.

it is designed for the sport hood, reason why they put the cap on top off the box. it seals just like the vararam........i know i have one. just to me it doesnt look like theres any benefit what so ever without the sport hood and for price wise theres alot better units out

so drawing air from the top of the hood is only 5% function versus drawing from the fender well......doesnt add up

i bought my truck used (it has the 5.7). it came with a mopar cai on it. I would NEVER pay the money they want for it. I dont feel it does anything. No sound, no notice in performance etc. I have taken it apart a couple times to clean it. IMO its such a cheap plain jane product, pretty embarrassing they want nearly $4-500 for it. It looks cool...i guess. If i didnt live in a snow state i would consider selling it and going with a vararam. I had to add foam to the opening/seal as it did not completely seal against the fender. there was a good 1/8 inch gap in some places. how is that for cool fender air? Anyway....we can spend our own money on whatever we desire.

Yes, on the Challenger it was proven that there is a low pressure area on the hood by the scoops when at highway speeds which doesn't allow maximum air flow thru the hood vents. I would assume that the Ram trucks would be similar since when driving at highway speeds people have reported the same type of hood flex as the Challenger has at highway speeds. But I'm just guessing, and haven't seen any proven data for the Ram truck.

Can you actually find literature that states it was designed solely for use with the sport hood?. You do realize that the way to change the filter is by........

Taking the top off!

And without some sort of documented comparisons, making a statement that there’s also better available is at best an opinion. Have dynosheets? Any sort of empirical evidence? The only other unit I’m aware of for the 3.6 is the air-raid SRI that appear to suck in hot engine bay air. Hard pass.

kinda weird we're even discussing this cause the picture posted is for a 5.7 liter as mopar doesnt make that style for the 3.6 . so that CAI was retrofitted in there. So maybe you should be looking into one for the 3.6

And before you start going off about the picture in the summit racing screenshot, that’s not a 3.6.

If I can find my RAM accessories book from the dealer I can show you the exact same part number as in every screenshot. Yes, they make this style CAI, for multiple vehicles. Maybe you should stop talking out your ass [emoji1787]

Ok, what picture are you even talking about and WTF do you care since you don’t even have a 3.6 anyways. There’s always that one guy in every forum that thinks he knows everything and loves to argue about things....

It’s not just designed for the sport hood and I bought mine for $150 bucks so I really doubt there is a better CAI for the 3.6 for that price.

Almost every website I’ve looked at shows a picture of the 5.7 CAI for both the 3.6 version and the 5.7 version.
