Read a bunch of reviews on the Pedal Commander all over the web at different places, and it sounded like a good idea and fun for a mod that wasn't terribly expensive, fairly non-intrusive and easily installed/removed, etc...
So I just wanted to post some feedback for inquiring minds that are considering it.
First thing is this truck requires a PC31. I dealt with them directly and after much discussion and emails back and forth and checking at their end, they sent me the wrong unit ... a PC78. Figured out pretty quick the plugs didn't match up ... RMA and got the right unit ... but still had to run around town to UPS, wait for the new one, etc ...
Here is the bottom line ... I don't think you need it. The stock response is actually pretty good for my needs. Didn't realize how adequate stock was until I installed this thing. The default mode when you first fire it up is "City", which supposedly tries to imitate a 1 to 1 ratio that one would experience in a conventional throttle cable set up. I have found City to be very touchy ... often I'm getting much more throttle than I expected ... has drawn comments from the old lady like "why are you driving like a maniac" even though I'm not trying to really goose it that much. So it does work as advertised ... question is do you want it ... gas tank has had a hole in it since installed, hard not to get into the pedal right now, but that will probably wear off once I'm done exploring the 36 possible settings. When I'm being "good" on the City setting and trying to drive like a normal human being, I find myself being very shy and gentle with the pedal trying to make sure I don't cause it to drop down a gear or two and take off like a bat outta' ... well you get the picture.
If you want to drive a little squirrelly and gas is not an issue, it is a fun mod ... The higher settings like Sport + have it downshifting and up on its toes with almost no throttle input ... just putting the slightest touch on the accelerator has the engine racing. For road trips or long drives when I want to be more fuel conscious, I can see value in turning it down below stock , has eco mode that really calms everything down. I'll keep it ... but not sure why.
