Actually there are three of them. They are up near the top of the windshield and have roman numerals I, II, and III. I pushed no. 1, and it changed the display on the dash, something to do with mpg I think. Pushed no. 2 and the display said " Training". The third also displays "Training". This is a 2009 Bighorn so if it's still training after 10 years, it's a slow learner!

I think your comment "Slow learner" pretty well sums the entire situation up---LOL

Those buttons with the Roman Numerals are for the Homelink System. You can program them to open your garage door or even an electric gate to enter your driveway or property.

Back to the original post, yes they can be programmed for you garage door opener.
I programmed mine but it is not 100% reliable.
It works maybe 90% of the time. It always shows up on the display that it is transmitting, but doesn't always work.

Anyone else have this issue?

Mine works about 90% of the time as well, but I find that when I just press the button quickly is when it doesn't work. So may just not be getting it pressed completely.

At some point through the years, you needed to start holding the button for 2 seconds before it would fire. Not unique to our trucks, my other vehicles do it too. Something to do with the Homelink rolling code security, I think.

My old Grand Cherokee, my wife's old Trailblazer, and the Journey she has now all has to be held for a couple of seconds to work. Very common.

When mine was still in warranty, I had that unit replaced at least 3 times because it would stop working. I'm pretty much at about 80-90% of the time working also. It does help to hold for at least 2 seconds.
