Thanks to this thread I purchased Alpharex Pro Series G2 Jet Black headlights for my 2015 RAM 2500 Power Wagon with factory projector headlights. All things are working well except for my DRLs.

I installed the headlights with the provided harness but did not hook up the single red wire for DRL as I was hoping I could enable that via AlfaODB. Below are the setting that I configured:
  • DRL configuration >optional
  • DRL lamp location > dedicated
  • DRL dropout enabled > yes
  • CBC I/O right dedicated DRL lamp output present> yes
  • CBC I/O left dedicated DRL lamp output present > yes
  • LED dedicated DRL present> yes
  • ECUConfig 3 DRL customer setting enable> yes
  • CustSetMenu 1 daytime running lights CSM> yes
Currently the bottom blinker glows solid orange when the DRL are turned on via the nav menu instead of the top and bottom white like I would expect. The top and bottom are white if only I turn on the parking lights. Any help would be appreciated.

With oem projector equipped trucks they have a dedicated drl feed. That uses the park/turn lights as drl's. To use the drl's on these lights you have 2 options. Use the supplied drl harness or tap into that feed and use just the supplied harness that goes to the red wires. If you are interested in using your truck's dedicated drl feed shoot me a pm and break the install down for you.

Definitely prefer to use the dedicated DRL feed with these lights. I sent you a PM.

Are you sure your truck has the Factory DRL wire installed.

His truck would have it already since he had factory projectors and the fact that currently his drl's are yellow/orange.

I have come across a few trucks that had the factory projectors but not the wires to feed the DRL.

Quick question, does anyone know if there would be any benefit to increasing the low beam voltage in AlfaOBD for my 35w Innovited HIDs?

Just ordered a pair of Hylux 45w ballasts and Morimoto XB 5500k bulbs. When they come in, I'm going to put the Katana in the high beams and the XBs in the lows. I will probably hang on to the Hikari ultra as a back-up in case I have an issue with the HID setup so I wont be without a truck waiting on new stuff. I'll post some pics once everything is installed. I'll try to get a pic of the Katana in the lows for comparison. I'll put up a pic of the Innovited 5000k 35w kit (sucked for me), Katana and the new kit. Here's hoping the best. The 5500k XB bulbs were great in my TYC projectors, just the Morimoto ballasts were complete trash.

I don't believe there would be any benefit. The ballast controls the output

I'm currently running morimoto xb5500 bulbs and the morimoto xb55 ballast. I've been running them for 2 weeks so far with zero issues. Longest run with morimoto hid's with no problems yet. I Figured I'd give them one more shot. And I believe changing settings with alfaobd is the reason why

I had the Morimoto 2015+ Mopar harness and XB35 ballasts with 5500k bulbs I installed around 2 years ago. Within the first month or 2, I replaced 2 ballasts, on the 3rd time, they sent me 1 hylux 35w ballast. I ran them with 1 hylux and 1 morimoto for about 1.5 years, then started randomly having the bulb with the Morimoto ballast going into strobe mode. Also it would sometimes fire and sometimes not. After about a month, it finally gave up and just wouldnt fire. I pulled all of it and put the halogens back in the TYC housings. Talk about horrible! lol. That lasted all of about a month till I ordered the Alpharex housings.

I do have a set of 55w Innovited hid's. I ran those for 2 weeks then wanted to try the morimoto hid's to see if their was any major differences. But other than a slight color difference I don't see any. I bought a lux meter and tested the 2 and the morimoto hid's were slightly brighter.

I think I posted a shot of my innovited kit earlier in this thread. Output and color were horrible! It was a 35w 5000k kit. they were in the truck all of a day before I pulled them. Almost had a green hue and output was worse than the Katana LED (which are ok, but not great).

I think there’s something off with the kit I got. I got the same kit (35w 5000k) and it is much more yellow than yours and doesn’t appear to be nearly as bright. Certainly a dingy yellowish green compared to the morimoto 5500k 35w kit I had in the TYC.

I pulled the HID and put the Katana in the lows and Hikari in the highs. I’ll see how they look tomorrow morning then figure out what I want to do. I doubt I can return the Innovited kit since I cut a new tab in the mounting flange.
@1500ram12 Here is the output shot I was talking about. Its blurry because I'm the idiot that took the pic while driving, but you can still see the color.

Yeah they definitely do. I have a set of h7 35w Innovited kit still and they were definitely not that color.

I’ve blown $50 on worse **** in my life, lol. It was a learning (confirmation) experience. Stick with what you KNOW is good.

I think you just got a bad set. A bunch of people use the innovative kit and haven't seen anything like that. Granted cheaper kits have a higher likely hood of failing/losing intensity/color

that’s why I bought them was because of the good reviews. People also have good reviews of DDM and others, and even good reviews of Morimoto (ballasts). At the same time, there’s always a dud here and there, just like our Rams as well. I do believe I just happen to get a dud, especially comparing it directly to the kit someone else posted. That said, I’ve had ahylux ballast and Morimoto bulbs without a problem and I liked the color, so I opted for the familiar route. Still came out pretty cheap at $100 for all of it.

Not a bad price. I was right around $120 for the morimoto set up
