Not only do I use mine all the time but the truck looks better with the boxes. I keep cleaning products in mine and some spare tools. They hold a lot.

I’m about to order a 2020 RAM 1500 limited and am undecided on the Rambox. I don’t plan to carry many tools if any so I’m not sure if it will be used. I plan on purchasing the multi function tailgate as i like being able to reach close to the back of the bed from the tailgates area. It looks as though i am giving up lots of space with the Rambox. I guess i am only considering it because i really want a retractable tonneau cover and have been told that due to the Bracket for the support of the multi function tailgate i cannot get it without the rambox option. I would appreciate any thoughts.
LOVED MY BOXES ON MY 17
So REGRET NOT getting in my new Ram!!! Used EVERYDAY!

I had them on my 2012 and passed on them with my '19 just because it had every other option I wanted and had a huge price incentive. BUT I miss the RamBoxes. You can still carry 4 x 8 sheets with them. You just lose some over the wheel space which I consider dead space anyway. I kept one side for tools, straps, hitch inserts, compressor, shovel, ratchet straps, a hydraulic jack for long trips, etc. and the other side I kept empty for take-out food bags (keeps the smell/spills out), shopping bags (prevents items from rolling all over), for rifles when I went to the range, filled it with water, drinks and packed it with ice on very long drives or off-road beach days (they have drain plugs). I always found use for them and miss them. I had to buy an over-wheel swing-out case to compensate but it's not the same.
SAME EXACT STORY HERE! Miss them dearly!!!

I had an Avalanche before the RAM which has a standard feature similar to the RAMBOX. Frankly, I didn't use it much. It had the cargo net and a set of jumper cables usually. Originally, I'd put the hitch in there when I wasn't using it, but I just ended up leaving it mounted in the receiver.

If you decide to order with the Rambox option, make damn sure you also get the bed divider. For whatever reason (llikely $$$), Ram made the decision not to automatically include them on the 5th gen models. Mine came without the divider, and I had to spend another $950 to get it. The bed divider is at least as important to me as the storage boxes in the bed sides.

Be sure you’ll never want to install a camper shell on your truck before ordering the Ramboxes.

I have been using a camper shell on all my pickups since I bought a 1965 Dodge in 1968. I like to put things in the bed and have them stay there. I can put anything in the back and know it will be there in the morning or after coming out of a store. My dogs like the bed with the shell which for them is a portable dog house with windows.

I put emergency tools, flares, snatch strap, etc. under the back seat and this has worked very well with the super cab trucks I have owned.

I am in the process of buying a new truck and new camper shell and have been considering one of the "commercial" caps that have locking side doors for access to the front of the bed from the sides of the truck. I can see myself making use of these doors.

Use my truck primarily for travel so I carry luggage in the bed. I have not found a tonneau that works with the ram box that is absolutely water tight or I’d have the ram box. Unless you need to keep your bed bone dry get the ram box.

What is it about the ram box that is a problem with a tonneau cover? I was planning to put a Retrax on it.

Tonneaus for the Ram Box cannot extend out to fit over the bed rails. It would prevent the Ram Box lid from opening which is the whole point of the Ram Box. Ram Box tonneaus have to fit between the bed sides. So far no manufacturer has figured out how to make a water proof tonneau for the Ram Box.

I love my rambox. A must have. I keep my auto detail kit, tools, road emergency supplies, tow straps, ratchet straps, ropes, chains, tow hitches, etc in one side! The other side I keep mostly empty to use for shopping or range gear. I have the factory (?) Trifold topper that is nearly water and air tight. I think if I tweak the seal, it would get the very few drops that get by. We love the ram boxes on road trips! His and her luggage compartments keep clutter out of the cab.
Another benefit of the ram box is being able to walk on the bedrails, even with the bed cover on.
I love the RAM-BOX bed dividers/bed extenders! I have 2. And have multiple bed configurations.
The adjustable bed tie down system is good.
For years and years, I had a 6.5" bed with crossbed toolbox. I have more room in my short box RAM than I did in the longer bed! (Except under the tool box)

Other notes of interest:
I can easily fit 2 full size skillsaws, a 10 piece cordless power tool set, nail bags, and much more in only one side of the ram box!
After a few years, no regrets about the RAM BOX. Except my other truck doesn't have it.

My agri cover and my bak roller both for ram boxes are 99% waterproof. Never had a problem

Do you have a truck with the rambox? What tonneau are you using on it that leaks?

99% isn’t 100%.

I do not have a Ram Box although I would like one. The only garauntee I’ve ever been offered concerning a tonneau for a Ram Box is that it’s garaunteed to leak. I’m sure with enough tweaking leakage could be reduced to a minimal amount but minimal is too much for me. 3 trucks, 3 undercover tonneaus and never a drop.

Until they find a way to seal this area, it will not be 100% watertight. Still love having the RAMBOX though.

Is that a function of the Rambox or the cover that you have?

The tailgate overlaps the Rambox and the cover is limited to the width of the bed. As a result, there is a short area on each side of the tailgate that does not have a cover over it.

Water can get through from the sides and bottom of the tailgate on any truck bed type, so I'm calling BS on anyone claiming to have a 100% water tight bed cover unless you completely seal the tailgate to the bed. My Truxedo LoPro cover (Rambox version) keeps my bed dry everywhere except for the rear corners in the tailgate area when it rains. When I go through the car wash there are a few drops in each corner up front too. I don't usually put anything in the bed of the truck if I'm worried about it getting wet, so I'm not really concerned about water intrusion. If I had a need to have a water tight cargo area I'd have bought an SUV or a van.
