You need seating for 6, their stuff and some tow capacity. Sounds like you need a suburban. Just do us a favor and don't buy a black, dark blue or white one so we don't have to slow down to check. With kids non perforated leather is your best friend. Just wipe the spills and sticky stuff off in seconds.
the problem with leather is that Chrysler Corp loves to stick plastic all over what they call leather. I have what is obvious vinyl cracking on the wife's Grand Caravan R/T that they claimed was leather seating. Give me cloth over vinyl.

I had that in my laramie and did end up recovering the drivers seat bottom from wear, but was still my favorite material because I just wiped them off with a damp cloth. My limited has real leather and it's perforated so it's still easier to clean then cloth, but not as easy as my laramie was.My past cloth seat trucks were a pain to clean, although the material was good and stains came out fairly easily with a carpet cleaner and a lot dustier in the cab.

the wheelhouse liners, what do they do?
is the LED lighting a noticeable difference?
I do like the heated steering wheel on the minivan, but it is not worth the cost of all that other crap that I would have to get to get it.
stock, some Rams doesn't have wheel liners, so adding them to protect for sure.

Yes, only way Id buy a 5th gen is with the LED head and tail lights.
Better lights.

I'm still not sold on the led lights. They are better, but I've gone years with the regular ones without feeling like I couldn't see at night and when a bulb burnt out it was 20 bucks for a decent one up to 100 if I wanted to go piaa or some other high end bulb. When an led burns out the cost to replace is other worldly and you have to wait for parts vs just getting bulbs anywhere.

i would say that a durango would fit your needs better than a ram. the six seater I thought only came with manual front seats.

Rear wheelhouse liners are plastic liners which protect the inner wheel well for the rear wheels. They used to be standard, but for some reason they are now an option for all trim levels except apparently for Longhorn and Limited models. Since I was shopping for a Rebel or a Laramie I wanted to make sure to have those on the truck I was looking for. They aren't very expensive to add later, and only a small pain to install yourself, so they weren't a deal breaker.

I notice a huge difference between the halogen projector headlights I had on my 2017 Rebel, and the LED's on my new Laramie. Definitely worth upgrading if you're thinking about a Big Horn. They're standard on the Rebel and Laramie so I only needed to worry about those when I was looking at Big Horn models.

I used to make fun of people who wanted heated steering wheels. But now I understand why people like them. In fact, if I had to choose btwn heated seats OR heated steering wheel, I'd chose the steering wheel. And I like the other "crap" I had to get in order to have it.

I haven't driven a 5th gen with halogens, so I'm not exactly comparing apples to apples. But I had two different 4th gens with them. One had halogen reflector housings and one had halogen projector housings. Both sucked about equally. I drove my daughter's 2019 Rebel when she first got it (LED housings), and the difference between hers and what I had at the time was literally night and day. That's why I wanted LED's. Sure, for now LED bulbs cost more, but like all new tech, that will pass as they become more mainstream.

If they were bulbs it wouldn't be a problem. On the oe ones is the light goes out you have to replace the entire fixture. My neighbor has already replaced 1 headlight and 1 tail light on his 2017. The headlight was warranty, but the tail light cost him $500. Headlight would have been around the same. That's just parts. No labor.

Not an issue for me since I only keep my vehicles until the warranty expires, but I can see how it would be a problem for anyone who keeps them longer. That's a poor design then if you have to replace the entire housing. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the clarification.

I put the Katzkin leather in my Lone Star. Absolutely worth every penny. Has no adverse effect on the heated seats. upload_2020-4-2_11-15-59.jpeg

I'd strongly suggest getting a truck. SUV are cute but once you have a truck you'll never go back.

Like others have said, depends on where you live (Heated Steering Wheel, Heated Seats)
Limited Slip - Get it from the factory installed otherwise if you do it at the dealer it only has a 1-3 year warranty
3.92 if you definitely will do hauling of a camper
3.21 is fine if you don't haul a big camper (Under 7k lbs)

I have a 2017 Big Horn
8.4 display
4x4
Tow Package (Tow Mirrors, In cab brake controls)
3.21
26 gallon tank
Wheel well inserts
Bed spray protection
Bed led lights
Heated Steering Wheel
Heated Seats

My only mistake is that it came with Open Differential
If I have the shop install LSD then I lose the lifetime on the rear
I installed aftermarket side steps for just under 300.00

Pleased with the Laramie option of heated steering wheel /seats that come on automatically at cold temps, and added factory brake controller (integrated into dash display). Ride is very smooth. Would be nice if there was a front bench seat option for big family. Have crew cab, 4wd and option of auto 4wd is needed on wet roads and hill take offs, will spin easy in 2wd.

The next vehicle I buy will largely be purchased based on how good the headlights are. After buying my 2017 Big Horn and dealing with the garbage headlights I will never make that mistake again!

Agreed, but since adding my LED in mine, all good.

regarding fitting in your garage. Make sure you measure your available room, incluidng room to either walk in front or behind the truck once parked with the garage door down. Also, the Tradesman model with the regular cloth seats will have a pop-up center seat with consol flip down center. In the up position, it's a seat with seat-belt. Lots cheaper than a Bighorn, tons cheaper than Laramie.

What do the lower gears do the mpg? I was thinking the extra 90 ft-lbs off idle from the e-torque (if I can get it) would reduce the need for the lower gears.
they dont do a thing the 3.21 has problems in my 2010 then was tested broke a nut think had it redone but I went to 292 and lost maybe 1/2 a mile per gallon and I tow so much better ! even 3.55 be better ok !

No room to walk in front or behind the current ride, I park on the right side and the doors are on the left, so no big deal.
I think I would prefer a tradesman (don't like chrome over plastic), but no power seat option at that level. I need the power seats to fit in these trucks. I have a very long torso.
